As an electronic DJ and producer, I think there is no need to tell you that I love the sound of the German electronic music pioneers »Kraftwerk«. So many great gems, unique sound far ahead of their time and well deserved worldwide success over generations of music fans…

What's lesser known: Some of the singles with German lyrics got released in many language versions – many more than just the original German and the mandatory English one. Since I am a big fan of rare stuff and even a bigger fan of Italy and its language, I was in love with the never released Italian version of the 1981 track »Taschenrechner« (Eng. Pocket calculator) – here called »Minicalcolatore« – for years. I showed this original to my DISCOnnect friends last summer, and they motivated me to do an edit. But I think it came out different from they expected…

Tronik Youth (SXDNS050) and Stockholm Syndrome (SXDNS165) went to a bar... Neil ordered a pint of Guinness while Ian went for a Balter's Imperial IPA. The lads started talking about their current and future endeavours; and after a few rounds, Neil mentioned something about Victor Hugo, the artist and window dresser who became one of Andy Warhol's assistants at The Factory. Tronik said: “Oi, mate, my new EP on NEIN, “Pearls For Victor”, pays a tribute to the iconic Venezuelan-born American fashion figure, fancy making a remix for it?”, Stockholm promptly replied, “Count me in, mate!”. And that’s how they decided to collaborate once again. True story, dinosaurs are famous for their honesty! An anonymous source also informed us that Ton Globiter’s invitation to provide the second remix was made soberly on a starry and warm night.

Jokes aside, the title track was properly re-dressed by the Australian Dark Disco star: Ian replaced the Industrial outfit for a more EBM-ish attire. He obviously kept the punchiness of the original but added some heavier and bulkier elements as if it were preparing its version for a stylish gala in a filthy basement.

Musik war schon immer Teil von Mawus Leben: mit vier Jahren begann er bereits seine musikalische Laufbahn, damals am Cello. Seitdem hat er als Musiker, DJ und Producer mit vielen verschiedenen Musikstilen experimentiert und kombiniert heute seine breite Palette an Einflüssen zu einer Mischung aus dunkler und äußerst energiegeladener elektronischer Musik, die sich zwischen Psy-, Minimal- Peak-Time Techno bewegt. Mit seinem Sound macht Mawu sich in München gerade einen Namen und hat neben mehreren Gigs im Bahnwärter Thiel oder dem Unter Deck auch bereits eigene Events veranstaltet.

English:

Music has always been part of Mawu's life: he began his musical career at the age of four, playing the cello. Since then, he has experimented with many different musical styles as a musician, DJ and producer and today combines his wide range of influences to create a mixture of dark and extremely energetic electronic music that moves between Psy-, Minimal- and Peak-Time Techno. Mawu is currently making a name for himself in Munich with his sound and, in addition to several gigs at Bahnwärter Thiel and Unter Deck, has already organized his own events.

When Plastikman´s - "Ex" was released i got drawn to the track EXpand of the Album. When i heard it for a couple of times i noticed that there could be added something more to it and some track directly popped up in my head that i, till that moment, actually wanted to use as an intro song for my sets. That way i ended up having Gaiser´s "Way Out" in Ableton together with EXpand. The work didn't proceeded that easy as i noticed there will be a lot of detailed things to take care of as i also wanted to keep the live vibe of Richie´s track. With a lot of fine tuning i ended up adding some rhythmic elements to it myself and the planned mash up became a complex rework. As there already was some remixes around "EX" released i thought it might be the right time to present what did came out of some hours of work to have my own unique version of those to tracks.

Following on from their Record Store Day ‘Looped EP’ release, which featured remixes by Dauwd and Lubomyr Melnyk, Kiasmos – made up of Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen – return with three new tracks and a remix by Tale Of Us.

Recorded in various locations including Reykjavík and Berlin, the EP opens with ‘Drawn’, a four-minute percussion fuelled track with gentle piano motifs. ‘Gaunt’ features the addition of ambient synths and a drum loop, underpinned by slow-moving chords. Title track ‘Swept’ which the duo offered to fans as a surprise gift in form of a free download card at previous show dates, showcases a more club-oriented beat structure alongside Kiasmos’ signature emotive instrumentation. 
 
Closing the EP is a remix from Berlin-based duo Tale of Us who met Kiasmos in London and twist the original downbeat title track
into their distinctively dark aesthetic. Pulsating hats and a driving bass loop add pace as the track builds toward an epic breakdown.

The ‘Swept EP’ will be released on 12”/DL via Erased Tapes on November 20th, 2015.
