First Ever Four Track Pryda EP

Eric Prydz today unveiled his new Pryda EP. It’s a classic slice of the inimitable Pryda sound that has defined the label’s output over the last ten years, and united the dance community. Pryda 028 is the first Pryda release to ever contain four tracks, and comes hot on the heels of the anthemic Eric Prydz summer hit ‘Liberate’.

These four tracks – Mija, Origins, Axis, & Backdraft - show another side to Pryda, one firmly rooted in the label’s club roots. Pryda 028 speaks to Prydz’ love of dark rooms and late nights, dancefloors with their heads down – audiences losing themselves in a journey, surrendering to the music, rather than demanding another recognizable drop.

Pryda 028 another genre defining release for Pryda – its house music but first and foremost it’s Pryda. The EP’s intricate blend and layering of harmonies and hooks, replete with that distinctive Prydz touch for melody, combine to make club music that just couldn’t come from anyone else.

Ten years and 28 releases in, Prydz and his Pryda label remain in the enviable position of straddling a line between the overground and underground, an achievement that is ever more difficult in the polarized world of contemporary electronic music.

Whether it’s a mainstage slot, or a dark after-hours session as his techno alias Cirez D, Prydz fans have come to expect something different and unique from the Swede. At a time when EDM festival mainstages homogenate, Prydz seems to stand further and further apart. This Pryda EP is an uncompromising exploration of the style and sound that define one of dance music’s truly singular talents.

Back in March 2014, SoundPark ran a feature on one of the most successful events in Cairo, Egypt. We were lucky to have Hisham Zahran take the helm for the audio and his debut has been one of our favorites from our entire catalog since. Hisham is a master story teller. His sound is patient, intelligent, and soothing. If you have yet to hear him, today is the day to change that. He has played along side some of the industries best tastemakers (Matthias Meyer, Daniel Bortz, Jody Wisternoff, Blond:ish, Sasse & plenty more). His music had such an impact in our offices that we invited him to come to the US for our very first SoundPark Artist Showcase in Brooklyn, NY for his North American debut in September. Over the next hour, Hisham Zahran authors this auditory tale for this edition of the SoundPark Playground.

Bereits Mitte der 1990er begannen Ricardo Linke und Daniel Päßler gemeinsam mit Musik zu experimentieren. Nach ein paar Jahren verloren sie sich dann jedoch wieder aus den Augen, bis sie sich 2003 durch einen glücklichen Zufall wieder trafen. Mit neuer Energie und neuen Ideen formten sie 2005 ihr Projekt „Microtrauma”. Der Sound der beiden Sachsen ist melodiös verspielt und zugleich technoid und erinnert an Acts wie Extrawelt oder Dominik Eulberg. Die EPs und Remixe des Duos erschien bereits auf Labels Parquet, Herzblut oder ihrer Homebase Traumschallplatten.

Nun haben Microtrauma den 23. Jeden Tag ein Set Podcast zusammengestellt. Viel Spaß damit zum Start in die neue Woche!

A Spanish DJ and producer, Dosem has been releasing music on label’s like Technasia’s Sino,  Danny Howell’s Dig Deeper, John Digweed’s Bedrock and Christian Smith’s Tronic.  Definitely a great roster of labels for the producer to stretch out his brand of electronic dance music.
