So happy to share the recording from my last set at Open Ground from December 2024. 

It was an emotional journey ~ I wanted to tell a story of diving into underwater dream lands, where spirit guides and glitchy creatures meet and send us messages from the other side... where sound takes over the brain and opens something in the heart and body.
I waved through many genres ~ ambient, jungle, electro, dubstep, drill, jazz, techno and the wonky in-between. It felt like I had the chance to express a fuller spectrum of who I am as a music lover. 🙏

That night, I had the honour of opening for the legend Surgeon ~ someone who’s deeply inspired my path since the very beginning. Sharing that moment with him and connecting was just wow. 🥹

Open Ground truly is one of the most special places on earth ~ the care, the sound, the freedom, the community, the crew… just perfection.

This is logical, this is a progression... The original and still one of the best sets around, LTJ's about to touch down. After much confusion I finally found the original 1996 version of LTJ's seminal Logical Progression 2 CD release. This is the mixed set (CD-B). Intelligent DnB at its finest. I brought a 2nd hand copy from Discogs.com. I will do a mix using the tracks on the unmixed CD (CD-A) when I get some time.

No infringement of copyright is intended, I'm assuming it's ok to make this available to download as it's not possible to buy this new anymore. If there is a problem with copyright let me know and I'll remove it. 

As always, all props to the artists, producers n engineers that made these tracks, nuff respect to all the Goodlooking family.

Smooth with the mellow, that's how we kept it... This is my (Jo Public) mix of the tracks on CD-A from the original 1996 version of LTJ's Logical Progression (the unmixed CD), I am NOT affiliated with GoodLooking. This mix features 10 of the best intelligent DnB tracks ever made, each track easily stands on its own but I don't like uploading full tracks unmixed - it feels like too much of a copyright infringement - plus I never listen to unmixed tracks - hopefully my mix does 'em justice. After starting the mini Dekmantel Selectors podcast series two years ago, it feels like a tradition to bring it back to life. In the next couple of months, we will release 6 podcasts by some of the exciting artists from the line-up. This year’s podcasts challenges the artists to work around a theme or idea they picked theirselves. After Lena Willikens's turn, we've asked Brilliant Corners's very own Donna Leake for the last Selectors podcast of the year.

Donna Leake, the music programmer at Brilliant Corners (a cosy bar and music venue in East London), is the kind of DJ who casts a wide net, spreading her sets across many musical disciplines all in the name of playing music that just feels right in the moment. This will be Leake's first time touching down at our humble festival, and we can't wait to see just where the adventurous selector will end up taking us.

Before we invite Donna over for her debut at Dekmantel Selectors this week, we've asked her for a special mix. Donna on her own podcast: "This is a mix made for a special exchange of musical inspiration from one person to another."

In his hometown of Basel where he is a resident at techno institution Elysia, @garcon’s name is synonymous with extended, expertly structured DJ sets rich in nuance and intensity. Co-owner of @amenthia-recordings with long-time collaborator @agonis-amenthia, the two have shared the unique artistic vision embodied by their label.

Combining elements that span a diverse musical landscape, Garçon’s mixes tend to be rhythmically, texturally and stylistically diverse, grounded in techno but always delving deeper and further afield. His Patterns of Perception 38 is no exception.

Adam McCoy is a talented Melbourne based music producer and live act under the alias; Citizen Maze. 

Much of Adams material focuses around the interplay of ambience in collaboration with dance music, reflected all too well in his inaugural EP for Analogue Attic Recordings - ‘Serenity In The Woods’. 

The track sequence for ‘trailmix. one’ takes inspiration from a long drive in overcast weather, echoing the calming transition felt whilst moving from ordinary Melbourne suburbia, to a more sensuous Wye River. 

Many of the tracks featured contain a vast selection of field recordings carefully blended together with expansive atmospherics and deep, introspective grooves.

Pack some Almonds, head outside, and get a taste for what inspires much of Adams own work.

Mike Parker, you would assume, is a perfectionist. His techno is meticulous, his grooves as hypnotic as any. Over the course of two decades he has honed in on his vision with ever increasing accuracy. He manages to get huge amounts of detail into his tunes that elevates them above purely functional material and lands him on labels like Semantica, Prologue and Tresor in both EP and LP format. 

The American is just as deep and powerful as a DJ, even without the use of kick drums. And that’s the path he follows over the course of one absorbing hour here, laying out a cinematic journey into space that is propelled by ambient synths and sci-fi motifs that set real scenes and have a real sense of narrative. At times it is blissful, at others more unnerving, but rarely will you hear an ambient mix as coherent and compelling as this.
