You can help be part of the mission. To entertain people. But not distract them. SmC aims to focus his audience, to help them see the world from what he knows for sure is a unique view. Better view? Worst view? Even "a view?" 
     You decide....
           Jesse Frey is also known as Shallow Mic Controller. SmC. He's a coastal child made Nevada county local , a bad ass freestyle rapper, with a conscious lyrical sense and a comical demeanor.
       He has been rapping since 2003. His first exposure to an audience was thru a Grass Valley Hip Hop Group Called Valley Pride. The group was constantly growing and morphing. Releasing an album, and doing many shows. Shows at venues, and in living rooms, decks,  and even fields. The artists were so hungry for an audience. Life got in the way for a lot of the core members. SmC was watching the crew crumble and fraction. Finally Imperial Records, the organization producing Valley Pride,  dissolved.
       Most the more active members reformed under the new name Get Split Records. SmC would be loosely involved with this group but mostly would not create music for an audience again until 2013. After a few party filled years of mayham without the access to a studio, SmC would decide to move to his birth town Half Moon Bay, Ca.
         He spent three centering years living in a beach cabin right off coastal highway 1. The cabin had its own private beach. A mixture of nirvana and a boot camp for the young man SmC was at the time. He mostly was alone far from his safe mountain community. Not a day passed that SmC didn't write, and freestyle rap. Hip hop is part of SmC's life, no matter what. Whether he has an audience or not he will always be creating ryhmes. Yet, the mountains called to him.The message felt clear, It was time to go home. When SmC returned to the gold country, he found a hip hop culture thriving in his little community. 
         Once he settled in he began to record. Re kindling a friendship with a hip hop head turned rapper Gary Pate, they both worked together. Gary also starts writeonn records right around this time. With gary, and his cousin, goodcat; SmC joins a group named Earbalm. They record a few songs and do one show together. Once again "life struggles" override the collective passion,  and the group's momentum stuttered. However, Gary and SmC still both moved on with their own projects.
      SmC finally finds himself with his own studio set up where he lives. The game was on for a major push to renter the hip hop scene. Soundcloud, REVERBNATION,  YouTube and Facebook had given him back an audience. He began to release his music and do open mics up at Coopers in Nevada city, ca. And next door to Coopers at Mecca Cafe. All the while networking and using social media to make his presence felt. Soon,  local artists like Galactik, Messy Jesse, and Connected; gave him a shot to rock out at their shows.
      Now SmC is still mostly recording freestyles and has moved towards hosting shows and feeding the hip hop culture with his techniques and view point.
