Alright, here they are: our TOP 20 of the Chymera "Fathoms" remix competition in cooperation with Juno Download. We received many remixes and it was not an easy task to whittle them down to only 20. 

The overall quality level was high and inevitably there are remixes we didn't choose which maybe also deserved to be a part of the selection. However, we tried to remain as objective as possible. 

The following criteria were important to us: Creative use of the parts, technical skills, general feeling and in the end, personal taste. Furthermore we tried to find a balance between remixes which stayed close, but with a unique twist to the original, and versions which developed in another direction. 

Afterall we are very happy with our Top 20 now and we hope you like them as much we do. 

We would like to say a big thank you to all participants for their submissions and we hope you had fun working with the parts.

We miss the days of spontaneously releasing music. Kölsch sent "Left Eye Left" to us last week and felt the need to immediately release this to the world. So without further ado... 

"Left Eye Left was originally intended as a part of my 1989 album, but in myriad of demos i had for the album it got lost in the finishing process. 

I rediscovered the demo just before my Eiffel Tower set, and decided it was a fitting ode to the city of love, so it was included in my set.

Oliver Schories is returning to 8Bit Records after a year -  with the Monza EP. 

Hamburg-based Oliver has been a welcome addition to the Germany house community for more than a decade now. After his latest album, Paradigm, and a collaboration with Jan Blomqvist in the summer of 2020, new original music will be out in January 2021 on Gorge’s and Nick Curly’s 8 Bit imprint.

Opening with the title track, ‘Monza’, a stab-led groove evolves organically adding nuanced layers and a rubbery bass. Warm and inviting, the piano in the first break creates a welcomed tension against the muted vocal ad libs. On the flipside, ‘Levo’ begins with more low end grunt. Melodics develop with time and form the main groove hypnotising the listener before chord sweeps and whispered vocals add warmth and musical depth.
