All of the intro sequences -- at least, as far as I've currently decided, this could easily change -- pretty much convey the same information that it does in Undertale. Humans and Monsters live together, war breaks out, the usual.

After unfortunate circumstances took her and her husband's lives, the royal scientists went to work on finding a way to bring her and her husband back. Using dead snails (note: not Monster snails, just boring old regular snails) and Determination, they had managed to bring Toriel back. Now she aimlessly roams the Underground, searching for something that might bring her back fully, as opposed to being trapped in the now undead body of a snail.

Once I have a more expansive plot synopsis for these AUs individually I will put them here (and in future tracks' descriptions), but for now this will have to do.

Alphys is a now-retired Royal Scientist who helped out on various projects and experiments that the lead scientist still works on from time to time. Nowadays, she prefers to spend her time with her partner in the beachy Summersdale.

During a conversation with Alphys before you leave for The Cliffs, she talks about her time as the Royal Scientist. Eventually she asks Oliver how familiar they are with Determination, and if they've seen any Amalgamates roaming around. Depending on Oliver's answer, she then talks more about the Amalgamates, or talks more about a project she's no longer actively invested in. One regarding snails, as they never did find out what happened to them.

Mettaton was once King of the Underground, ruling alongside their cousin who was officially moreso the royal advisor, but he treated them like royalty just as much as he treated himself as such. He let this power get to his head a bit and started doing things that mostly benefitted himself. Nothing that'd actually put monsters in direct harm, he wasn't that stupid, but nothing that actually did anything good for them either.

One fateful day, he was overthrown by the people, exiled to the shadier part of the Underground, and the royal advisor was crowned monarch in his place.

Now Mettaton lives in the so-called slums of the Underground. He's managed to find a fairly decent space to live in, a place where he can recharge if necessary (which is very frequently the case given how much power his body drains... if only he had a more energy efficient mode) and where he can lie on the ground feeling like garbage.

Of course, despite his exile, he puts on a smile and his signature flamboyant confidence and acts as though there's nothing wrong! Because why would there be?

Complete sidenote, whenever relevant, thumbnails will also feature character designs now! The old thumbnails will slowly be updated as well, but my priority for the time being is going to be the ones that are being actively uploaded.

Constantly acting as though everything is fine can be very draining, both emotionally and physically -- Mettaton is no exception to that. By the time Oliver shows up at his house, he doesn't really have the energy (literally) to keep it up anymore, being a bit more quiet before inevitably breaking down in front of Oliver.

As Oliver goes to bed to take a quick nap before they continue on their adventure, they can hear Mettaton quietly singing to himself, which slowly puts them to sleep.

UNDERTALE Soundtrack

028 - Premonition

*i haven't been in this business too long, but i've picked up on one thing.
*you've gotta be careful when you're in the dark.
*when the light is running low, and the shadows start to grow...
*you never know what crooks're gonna be up to.
*floweyfall's a pretty dark place, which is why i'm warning you now.
*but hey, my bro has his eyesockets on that place 24/7.
*so, uh, you'll probably be fine.

Aftergore is a series of AUs taking place after Undertale's neutral endings, in which a new human enters in Frisk's wake.
Aftergore I, the Incomplete/Flawed Pacifist ending, details an ending in which everyone (except for Asgore) was spared and befriended. Toriel has taken her ex-husband's place, ruling the Underground with both strictness and kindness. Humans are to be treated not as enemies, but as friends.

Sans keeps his own role. Toriel's new school needed a security guard to keep the kids safe, and what better man to take that job than the Judge himself? His brother sometimes helps, but usually has more pressing royal obligations.

T-SPIN is a set of Undertale AUs made by Toadie, based on Storyspin and its further-spun brethren, which probably have better names than "Spinspin" and "Triplespin" but none that I can particularly specifically remember.

Each of the three AUs have their own rolelists which can be found in their respective playlists.
