1973, New York: Billy Joel’s first North American single, “Piano Man”, is released. It peaks at #25 on the U.S. Billboard Chart and is a moderate hit for Joel.

1977, Chicago: The Warehouse nightclub opens in a former factory. Its musical director, Frankie Knuckles, develops a DJing style that will go on to be called "House Music."
