Over the moon to share the latest entry in our SORRYMIX series -- a special live recording from a super special party mixed with love by our good friend Taal (@taal-nyc). We've been happily sharing dance floors with Taal (a.k.a. Adi) for yeeeeeeaaars !! I remember seeing him play for the first time during this open decks we did at our tiny release party for the debut EP from Ma Sha & Ru of Kindergarten Records back in 2019. He's a voracious music lover and a tireless contributor to the NYC dance underground through so many facets -- passionate DJing, tireless dancing, and fantastic party promotion running NYC's finest UKG night Bump! in addition to everyone's favorite pizza party 999-PIES. Hell he's also got a hand in lighting/installation - most recently putting together an installation for this year's Shaker Mountain weekender.

This recording is from a fantastic party Adi and his partner Leen threw on their roof in Bed Stuy. I believe they specifically picked the apartment because of said roof and this was their first proper party up there and certainly one for the books. You know what coincidentally  Adi and I have shared a lot of special moments on roofs over the last few years... I remember one of our first real conversations was on Taafe roof one morning at Sublimate.  Adi also threw another infamous roof party last summer just after re-opening where @t_o_n_y_g and I played our first post-pandemic set back and pretty much met half our friend group. for many people, this was the first party of the outdoor party season this year. the weather was a bit chilly but we got some nice sun during the afternoon. all the DJs (devoye b2b shikha, marco weibel, livwutang) played excellent daytime sets and the crowd brought great energy to match.

I closed the party just after sunset, and this recording captures most of my set, up until the cops came knocking (lol). definitely turned up the gas on this one. some UKG/bass, some techno, some jungle, lots of energy. enjoy 💫

Live recording from Depth Perception: Verso on Sunday, December 3rd. I played the closing set from 1-3pm with the prompt to play "music that I love but don't typically play out", which I took as an opportunity to present a lot of 90s/00s rave & breakbeat sounds. 

This turned out to be one of my more personal DJ sets, with a lot of uplifting tunes and synth melody earworms - hope you enjoy :)

a shorter mix this time, on the funkier side of things. I started from one point of inspiration: the transition between Rz Bass and Make it Up, which I knew was meant to be when I heard Buttechno's Minimal Cuts for the first time. expanded from there and threw in some turntablism scratching at the end, just for kicks (ok I did watch a few turntablism videos on YouTube today and was mildly intrigued...)
