Radio mix for Playground Radio on May 21, 2022.

I was planning to start playing a new radio show at Playground a couple weeks ago but ended up getting covid so I couldn't record it in the studio. It's all good though, I healed up in a few days and recorded this mix at home shortly after.

I'm excited to join this cute music community at the local Bed-Stuy spot, and I'm looking forward to playing more radio. This mix features some new UKG, electro, and jungle tracks. Hope u enjoy ✌🏽

Over the moon to share the latest entry in our SORRYMIX series -- a special live recording from a super special party mixed with love by our good friend Taal (@taal-nyc). We've been happily sharing dance floors with Taal (a.k.a. Adi) for yeeeeeeaaars !! I remember seeing him play for the first time during this open decks we did at our tiny release party for the debut EP from Ma Sha & Ru of Kindergarten Records back in 2019. He's a voracious music lover and a tireless contributor to the NYC dance underground through so many facets -- passionate DJing, tireless dancing, and fantastic party promotion running NYC's finest UKG night Bump! in addition to everyone's favorite pizza party 999-PIES. Hell he's also got a hand in lighting/installation - most recently putting together an installation for this year's Shaker Mountain weekender.

This recording is from a fantastic party Adi and his partner Leen threw on their roof in Bed Stuy. I believe they specifically picked the apartment because of said roof and this was their first proper party up there and certainly one for the books. You know what coincidentally  Adi and I have shared a lot of special moments on roofs over the last few years... I remember one of our first real conversations was on Taafe roof one morning at Sublimate.  Adi also threw another infamous roof party last summer just after re-opening where @t_o_n_y_g and I played our first post-pandemic set back and pretty much met half our friend group. for many people, this was the first party of the outdoor party season this year. the weather was a bit chilly but we got some nice sun during the afternoon. all the DJs (devoye b2b shikha, marco weibel, livwutang) played excellent daytime sets and the crowd brought great energy to match.

I closed the party just after sunset, and this recording captures most of my set, up until the cops came knocking (lol). definitely turned up the gas on this one. some UKG/bass, some techno, some jungle, lots of energy. enjoy 💫

“This is a re-mix of my DJ set at Depth Perception last month. It's pretty much exactly what I played on that Sunday morning at 8am, right after Russell guided us through sunrise with some beautiful, deep reggae. I think the intentionality of the party and the uplifting energy of my selections (with lots of UK influences across the bass music spectrum) really resonated with the dancers that day, so I wanted to share some of that vibe to a broader audience.

Depth Perception was an after-hours-into-morning dance party which I helped organize with some friends on March 12, 2023. It was an exploration of new paradigms in nightlife, with a focus on non-alcoholic drinks & healthy food and an invitation for selections outside the performers' usual dance music realms. I'm really proud of what we created as a community that day, and I hope you'll try to join us at the next one :)”
