For the 3rd year running, here's a mix I did for my friends down at Electronic Groove. Similar to my 2013 effort, this mix takes you from melodic point A to B with heavy hints of prog. Hope you like it!

Dance TV is proud to present DJ MIX #617 with the Cantabria based DJ, producer and remixer - Pablo Bolivar. A modern master of house and techno, the Seven Villas label founder is known equally well as an album artist and prolific remixer, but perhaps foremost as a world class DJ. Melodic and hypnotic this moody and sublime mix is made of Pablo's favourite releases from his Seven Villas label. Enjoy!

With a diverse artistic spectrum and global resonance, it becomes evident that Pablo Bolivar was destined to create music, always driven by a profound commitment to quality.

Born in Santander, Spain, in 1981, he took his first steps into the music business by studying Sound Engineering at Barcelona’s Crash institute, then working as an engineer for a number of years following his graduation in 2000. Boasting more than a decade of experience releasing music, Pablo Bolívar is a name familiar to most in the underground circuit of Dance music.

Subsequently, Pablo ventured into the realm of one of Spain's most esteemed electronic imprints, Decoder Muzique. In 2006, he made his debut on the Barcelona-based Regular label with the release of 'Anjanas,' an 11-track album that beautifully showcased his melodic, hypnotic, and enigmatic style of techno. This distinctive approach, weaving between ambient interludes and more club-oriented moments, demonstrated a maturity and profound musical understanding born from his in-depth studies of the art form.

In 2009, Pablo released his critically acclaimed and personally cherished LP, 'Recall,' once again through Regular. The album paid homage to his past influences, including Heiko Laux and the Kanzleramt label, as well as other German imprints like Chain Reaction. It was also deeply inspired by the profound experience of losing his father.

Since then, the Spanish maestro has consistently excelled, with subsequent releases on labels like Curle Recordings, Desolat, Culprit, Einmusika, Moodmusic, Endless, and through his very own Seven Villas and Avantroots imprints. Pablo has also lent his remixing prowess to a notable array of artists, including Gui Boratto, Mario Basanov, When Saints Go Machine, Gorge, Parov Stelar, and Juana Molina, to name just a few.

Outside of music production, the gifted Spaniard has built up a reputation for his meticulously crafted DJ performances, combining his own mesmerising Techno cuts with records unearthed from his regular excursions crate digging as well as from other artists such as Floating Points, Soulphiction, I:Cube and Vakula – modern names that he is a big personal fan of.

Ambient & medicine music has been a blessing in this last years of my life. A gift, really. It’s been guiding me through my own inner journey—through healing, through feeling, through exploring —and I’m grateful beyond words for how it continues to hold space for me and all those who come across some of this soul & earth inspired music.

This Glass Garden session was recorded in nature, where I grew up. It’s a mix of songs I’ve gathered, new music I love, and some of my own ambient work—improvised in the moment, guided by presence. I truly hope it brings you what it brought me: healing, acceptance, a sense of inner space.

Thank you to Glass Garden, @alysmusique and @dobmusique , for creating such a beautiful series, and thank you to everyone who takes the time to listen. I’m honored to share this chapter of the journey with you.

Time just keeps on slipping and all I can do is watch it flow like sand through my fingers. 

Even slowly, spend your life working for what you want. Create things just for the hell of it. Develop a defined taste. Pick up and drop new hobbies and interests like an excitable dog its toys. Tell people you love them if you feel you do. Treat yourself to something you can't afford every now and then and really enjoy it. Be warm and open but firm with what you stand for. Surround yourself with people that make you happy and don't be afraid to completely cut someone off if they're making you a worse version of yourself - they're wasting your life. Always encourage yourself to improve. Pick your battles; say no sometimes. Sit in the sun when you can.

Closing February with a slammer of our favourites..

Our whole story started with Audiofly. We saw them on the deep playa, in the lush jungle of Tulum and numerous other occasions.. 

I try to explain in words what I felt when I first saw them perform. The first opportunity you get observe the two. You can read their personality of their energy when they perform. The one with a depth in thoughts and being, the one with the radiant smile and the open energy to all. I knew we would become friends, but I could never expect what we have now.

I love both to bits. I love working with them. I love their music. I love their show. I love everything about them. 

The past year we teamed up multiple times. Not only for our very own Gardens but also for their insane show Flying Circus. As we became a close family you can expect so much more from the love between The Gardens & Audiofly..

February's Fortune - Audiofly

My family got some sad and sudden news recently that has really thrown our world upside down. While it's an unquestionably difficult time, I'm grateful to say that each moment is a lesson and that we're all growing immeasurably despite the hardship. It's moments like these, when you're living quite so close to your emotions that you really end up feeling everything. It's all magnified; you laugh hysterically and then you cry hysterically, but throughout it all, there's a deep rooted sense of appreciation and beauty in all around you that I feel we lack a lot of the time when everything is fine.

I started this mix the afternoon before my world was rocked, and had been unable to finish it until last night. Yesterday was arguably the hardest day so far, but in the darkness I found the strength to finish this off and write a very moving piece of music expressing what we're going through. 

It's wonderful how music can give you such genuine answers, without saying any words at all. I hope you enjoy this hour of music that makes me happy and I hope it does the same for you.

Following on last month's theme. As patina is the surface expressing what's underneath, lustre is the energy that emanates outwards. The tracks in this mix have a warm, gentle but driving depth to them. There are some feelings in here that I associate to the sense of power held by aged wood, as both a strong material and a soft expression of life.

Shirtless and shoeless, TÂCHES sits cross-legged in the dirt gently taking in his mountain surroundings. It’s clear that he’s deep in thought as he mindfully traces the shape of a fallen leaf in his hand and a slight smile gently spreads across his face. There’s a tangible feeling of love and fascination communicated through the way he looks at the world around him and it’s precisely this holistic approach to creativity that makes him such a captivating artist. This is the makeup of a being that finds passion and inspiration anywhere he looks. 

Contradictorily, he is as much a devotee to tradition as he is a breaker of rules. TÂCHES is uninterested in following trends, and instead seeks to provoke the senses through a deeply personal examination of culture and cliche. Conceptual without ever being pretentious, his music shows a deep rooted appreciation for the textures of the times passed and faraway places. There’s a certain urgency to capture the world as he perceives it; albeit a world seen through the rose tinted lenses of a creature forever romantically entangled with his surroundings.

There’s no one way to sum up TÂCHES’s music, as it’s perpetually in growth, bending and swaying like a tree in the wind. This sonic metamorphosis is due to a primal need to experiment coupled with a deep longing to express the continually transforming experience of being human. Drawing heavily from emotion and memory, there’s a clear sense of nostalgia in all that he creates. His pure and unabashed desire to combine the things that he loves manifests itself as rich and evocative music with massive personality and palpable global flavours. 

TÂCHES’s desire to build upon the world in which his music exists led to the creation of his label GLITTER COWBOY - the peculiar home for the sonic documentation of his journey. When you listen to GLITTER COWBOY, you are nakedly experiencing life through the eyes of TÂCHES as he seeks to embody self-awareness and optimism, along with finding inner peace through nature, artistic expression and simplicity of living.
