The Cologne-based label founded by Dirk Hermann and Andreas Mueller drops its sixth release this July. Jay West & Manuel Sahagun reunite for their third release following ‘Fool Me’ on Off Recordings and ‘Got Me’ on Electronique Digital back in 2013.
Between them West & Sahagun have stacked up an impressive back-catalogue of work on labels including Neurotraxx, Drop Music, Moodmusic and Salted Music. ‘Sense Of You’ is a smooth and melodic affair, lined with silky pads, soft strings, shuffling percussion and an ethereal vox from Cody ChesnuTT.
With 15 years in the game and releases on Amam, Tsuba, VIVa Music and BPitch Control, French native Okain delivers a punchy re-imagining. It’s an eccentric house cut built around stripped back rhythms, rolling bass lines and an elemental vocal.
Schallplatten head honchos Dirk and Andreas step up next for remix duty and cut things back, introducing a fresh piano arrangement alongside emphasised strings the duo draw out those understated crowning moments to deliver a smooth slow-lung jam.
‘The Right Thing To Do’ is the final offering on the EP and certainly doesn’t disappoint with a meaty groove mapped over kinetic drum patterns, dancing bass and an airy spoken word vocal.

"Make Haste My Love" is a piece of music I made as a wedding gift for my mother, Susan, and stepfather, Tim, who just got married on the 26th of October. What makes this song so special is that almost all of the sounds that make up the arrangement are snippets of audio taken from videos that they sent me on WhatsApp over the past few years of their times and travels together.

Using all sorts of high tech music and AI tools, I was able to edit and manipulate these pieces of audio to become a sort of sonic scrapbook of some of the most standout moments of their falling in love. The videos range from Tim serenading a vineyard of lucky grapes in Abruzzo with his saxophone, to Tim road testing Susan's Christmas gift of a clarinet in the living room on a chilly March evening, to the impassioned roar of Tim's football team, the Brighton Seagulls, winning at the first ever game that Susan went to that he took her to last year.

With tools like Melodyne and RipX, I was able to take the sound of the saxophone in the vineyard, for example, and make it play not just a completely different melody, but also harmonise it as if there were more than one of Tim at any one point.

Towards the end of the song, I even managed to squeeze in some audio of me rather naughtily playing the piano, decorated with a Do Not Touch sign, at the church when I popped in with Susan a few days before the wedding.

You'll also notice that the release is a collaboration with Mussanti, which is actually an anagram of their names, Susan and Tim, and they're going to be getting 50 percent of the royalties as a gift that just keeps on giving.

Shirtless and shoeless, TÂCHES sits cross-legged in the dirt gently taking in his mountain surroundings. It’s clear that he’s deep in thought as he mindfully traces the shape of a fallen leaf in his hand and a slight smile gently spreads across his face. There’s a tangible feeling of love and fascination communicated through the way he looks at the world around him and it’s precisely this holistic approach to creativity that makes him such a captivating artist. This is the makeup of a being that finds passion and inspiration anywhere he looks. 

Contradictorily, he is as much a devotee to tradition as he is a breaker of rules. TÂCHES is uninterested in following trends, and instead seeks to provoke the senses through a deeply personal examination of culture and cliche. Conceptual without ever being pretentious, his music shows a deep rooted appreciation for the textures of the times passed and faraway places. There’s a certain urgency to capture the world as he perceives it; albeit a world seen through the rose tinted lenses of a creature forever romantically entangled with his surroundings.

There’s no one way to sum up TÂCHES’s music, as it’s perpetually in growth, bending and swaying like a tree in the wind. This sonic metamorphosis is due to a primal need to experiment coupled with a deep longing to express the continually transforming experience of being human. Drawing heavily from emotion and memory, there’s a clear sense of nostalgia in all that he creates. His pure and unabashed desire to combine the things that he loves manifests itself as rich and evocative music with massive personality and palpable global flavours. 

TÂCHES’s desire to build upon the world in which his music exists led to the creation of his label GLITTER COWBOY - the peculiar home for the sonic documentation of his journey. When you listen to GLITTER COWBOY, you are nakedly experiencing life through the eyes of TÂCHES as he seeks to embody self-awareness and optimism, along with finding inner peace through nature, artistic expression and simplicity of living.
