The release opens in a state of tension with Impending Doom, a track that wastes no time setting a grim tone. A foreboding vocal warning sets the stage for dense, growling basslines and haunting, metallic synths that claw at the edges of sanity. The drums are surgical - tight, clean, and deeply menacing. This is the sound of inevitability, relentless and creeping.


Impending Doom

Passenger drifts awake inside a transparent pod as the craft slices through an unnamed sea of stellar dust; the air trembles with a low-frequency thrust, like the heartbeat of the universe marking time for the journey ahead. This flight—charted by The H2O and launched by Paperfunk Recordings—carries no luggage except its four tracks, each a tidal engine of liquid techno. The first surge lifts the vessel above light-clouds: bass presses gently against the hull, foaming the vacuum, and droplets of strobing light slide across the window straight into the listener’s nervous system. A second wave, bright with steel-toned synths, pushes distances apart, sketching flight paths from holographic flares that recall forgotten dawn windows back on Earth. The third phase glows aquamarine; gravity dissolves, rhythm becomes a fluid tunnel you swim through by touch, fingertips brushing invisible strings that answer with radar-like echoes trying to memorize your name. The fourth impulse—violet percussion spray—folds space into a smooth sphere; time turns round, rolling across the plates of memory and leaving the imprint of a pulse that will echo long after touchdown. When the craft glides into the planet’s penumbral calm, silence rings louder than any melody, shimmering with high overtones like mist over a cold ocean at morning’s edge. Eyes closed, the passenger hears all four tracks merge into a single breath—part ocean, part galaxy—and knows the internal orbit has shifted forever: every movement from now on obeys a quiet sound that became a personal north, a compass, a drop of water suspended in the dark of the stars.

 Raleine’s ethereal vocals float over an ominous atmosphere before the track transforms into a haunting yet hypnotic groove. A grim, funky bassline and punchy drums drive the energy, while Raleine’s voice weaves beauty into the darkness. Equal parts menace and melody.

Beginning

Tidally Locked closes the Korax EP with a crushing sense of finality - dense, punishing, and shrouded in darkness. From the outset, it builds an atmosphere of claustrophobic tension, like being trapped in perpetual night on a planet that never sees the sun. The bass is feral and tearing, ripping through the mix with unrelenting force, while the drums land like seismic shockwaves, thick and immovable.

There’s a haunting gravity to the track, as if everything is being pulled toward some unseen mass. Each element is tuned for maximum weight; every reverb tail, every percussive hit feels deliberate and doomed. Tidally Locked doesn’t just finish the EP, it seals it in a black shell of dread and power, leaving behind a lingering sense of unease. Korax ends their sonic descent on a note of controlled chaos, where groove and terror march in lockstep.
