Masters of the Snake Monastery GYDRA invite a heavyweight selection of artists to showcase their sonic styles for the Snake Monastery Remix LP. Five renowned names enter the monastery bearing a remix each to propel its grandeur to further heights. LEVELA brings the boisterous basslines of his trademark jump-up style, bouncing to and fro on his emblematic remix. SKANTIA then shows of his style of roaring basslines developed over a series of recent releases on RAM Records that do much to match the monstrous nature of the Snake Monastery’s guardians. Following this comes the high speed percussive flurry of GRIDLOK’s technical style, expertly forged over the span of his 20 year career and honed to an evermore exacting edge. AUDIO next delivers the full force of his brutal and heavyweight style, finding common sonic ground between his own Snake Pit imprint and the tenets of Gydra’s serpentine monastery. Finally, GYDRA invite one of neurofunk’s most renowned progenitors, KEMAL, who delivers a masterwork remix replete with his style’s resplendent energy as the LP’s final track.

It began with a low rumble from all degrees of the horizon, and envelopment of portentous sound that seemed to emanate from everywhere and nowhere all at once. From high above, fluctuations in the jetstream whipped the clouds into a frenzy, stretching, swirling, and blending them into a slate of blackest-grey from within which thunder and lightning began to add their voices to the ensuing cacophony. As the roar on the horizon grew, the very air itself seemed to slip and surge around the sonics that cut through it, churning it from stillness into a great gale that nipped with icy jaws at the flesh of any caught within its flow. Then, as though in a perfectly discordant concert with the air above, the ground itself began to shake, roiling in opposite motion as the second wheel of a planetary mill set to grind those upon the surface into dust. From within the fissures that scarred the Earth’s surface poured rivers of magma that made a cruel mockery of the world’s aqueous veins as they brought death to all with which they intersected and poisoned the air with toxic gasses long kept locked beneath the earth. Those who strove yet to live within this hellish world could not but hear a single voice in their minds, chiding them for forgetting what had always been known, dooming them to watch as the ENSUING CATACLYSM consumed the world that had once been their home.

AGRESSOR BUNX stand before the EATBRAIN horde as the heralds of the ENSUING CATACLYSM as they deliver their second full album to the waiting ears of the label’s faithful. The signal had flickered into existence without warning, a sudden complex sequence that almost filled the awaiting databanks within moments and laid out an array of schematics beyond comprehension. For years they labored, first to understand and then to build the machine it described, a craft that could finally escape the outermost reaches of the solar system and carry a single human beyond the limits of their star, to the point of the signal’s source. They picked the passenger with care - their most capable pilot, linguist and scientist, ascribed beyond the limits of fear through overwhelming curiosity… The journey was swift, covering that most immeasurable of distances in human terms within days. As he drew close to the origin, far from the sun and beyond the influence of the system, it appeared as a speck in the distance but quickly grew into a sight of overwhelming complexity, a vast silent ship, and static in the darkness, blotting out the light of distant stars. As the shuttle drew close, it shuddered into life, internal lights hesitating before firmly illuminating and colossal vents purged gases into the yawning nothingness of space. The vessels nestled together, extending appendages and exchanging code. With a sigh the airlock opened and sequential lighting ushered him within the vacant hulk, a faint trembling of power running through the hull and beneath his feet. He entered the endless chamber with wide pupils, so big that it receded into blackness, the overwhelming mechanism before him filling his vision – a vast sphere engineered to an impossible configuration… a pathway to the stars… the WARP DRIVE.

MALUX is an artist who surged into the drum & bass sphere suddenly in 2016, delivering a tight selection of releases on some of the leading labels in the genre and making his mark on the European live scene with rapid success.
