I got the opportunity to officially remix this classic song to coincide with the release of a new Donny Hathaway box set. I was given the original multitrack master of the studio version (different from the live version)and it consisted of 8 different instrument and vocal tracks (as opposed to the more usual 24 tracks) 
When I take on a remix, my first goal is to make it work on a current dance floor. I like to stay very close to the originally recorded sound and In most case there's plenty to be reworked on the multitrack master to achieve this. 
This case proved a little different as there were few rhythm elements I could use to fit within current standards of club loudness levels. So I decided to take a slightly different approach, and add a new set of (acoustic) drums,  to bend the original Soul vibe a little towards Disco territory.

Il nuovo disco degli Altro è Sparso, un po' come i componenti della band che vivono in tre città diverse, prima in Italia, adesso, in Europa. Sparso perché le canzoni di questo disco sono state registrate in periodi differenti e soprattutto perché il punk degli Altro è qualcosa che non ha veri e propri confini con un genere. In questo disco c'è tutta l'enciclopedia indispensabile per capire due generazioni a cavallo tra i novanta e i duemila. Dai punk agli indierockers. Ci sono le canzoni urlate, quelle violente, quelle wave, quelle punk acustiche e quelle punk rock in quattro quarti, e tutto in meno di due minuti a brano.

Diciotto pezzi e non arrivano neanche sopra i 30 minuti.

Sparso, in stampa per La Tempesta Dischi, racchiude tutto questo e lo fa con un cd remissato, ripulito, risuonato registrato da Paolo Rossi al Waves studio di Pesaro e masterizzato da Giovanni Versari con due ospiti speciali: Bart dei Cosmetic e Erica Terenzi dei Be Forest; con due piccoli brani in più e una deliziosa confezione - come le precedenti - in carta ritagliata con una ragazza che tiene tra le braccia il cd-disco del gruppo, difficile da scrivere, più facile da vedere: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBmsiyIE5bE&feature=youtu.be

Gli Altro sono chitarra, basso e batteria e sono Alessandro Baronciani, Gianni Pagnini e Matteo Caldari. Un gruppo seminale, schivo e imprevedibile, hanno iniziato negli anni novanta e ora sono un specie di culto underground. Pochi concerti all'anno ma quelli giusti. Il loro è un punk de-costruttivista che unisce incisive liriche a canzoni dal vivo travolgenti che non arrivano mai sopra i due minuti. Vi troverete ad ascoltarli in concerto e a ballare senza capire cosa stia realmente succedendo e, siamo sicuri, nemmeno loro. 

Sparso è il loro quarto disco della carriera. Il penultimo uscito per Tempesta: Aspetto. Due fuori per Love-boat: Candore e Prodotto - più volte nominato dalle riviste e siti online come uno dei cento dischi da avere del decennio precedente. Nella loro discografia hanno anche svariati autoproduzioni e sette pollici di cui due stampati dalla Holidays Records di Milano e due dalla To lose la track di Umbertide (Pg).

"Tacuma!" is a dialectal expression from Piedmont region which means "let's start!" ...to play in our case!
If you come to see Tacuma! live, you can relax like you're in a jazz club, you can get curious finding out what the musicians are playing with machines, or you can - simply - dance.
