2015 was a pretty exciting year for AKA AKA & Thalstroem. To emphasize the special connection to their fans, they’ve consequently named their second album „Connected“. And this love is mutual and strong because for the second time after 2014 the Berlin-based trio was again voted by the readers of Faze Magazine as best „live act“
As their LP has been the result of cooperative collaborations, the trio starts the new year with some proper remixes of „True“, which was originally created together with their befriended deep house crew Chasing Kurt. AKA AKA & Thalstroem not only shared some festival stages with Raumakustik, even some of their latest podcasts included music from the Dresden-based producers. Raumakustik’s version isn’t just increasing the tempo, thanks to their percussive high energy level as well as playful and trance melody, „True“ gets a heated foundation that is aiming the dance floor. While the DJ duo Junge Junge is highlighting the original’s dreamy soul aesthetics with both their remix as well as radio edit, Pele & Shawnecy turning „True“ into some kind of gloomy, rolling techno beast that only get its color strokes by some of these used vocal loops. AKA AKA & Thalstroem has announced that 2016 will be more clubby again. „True Remixes“ delivers the first impressive evidence that they’re definitely serious about their own promises.

It goes without saying that we love Axel Boman as his weird and wonderful take on house music has soothed our ears for years. 

His remix of 'Love Apparel' takes things deeper than the original by using serene backing synths, melodies that ooze melancholia and a bassline that although dense, adds another level of dreaminess to the cut.

Powerdance is a collective formed by Luke Solomon and Nick Maurer formed as a reaction to bland soul less dance music that seems to infiltrating nightclubs the world over.

Luke and Nicks comradely stems back many many years to their association with the Classic Music Company - a label formed by Derrick Carter and Luke.

Nick Maurer was one half of the then prolific Greens Keepers.

This EP for Optimo Trax features the wigged epically funkoid gem "Mysterious Space Plane"; who doesn't like songs about space? On the other side is the modern hyper jacking "More Fire". Alongside these are a reprise of "Mysterious Space Plane" and a bonus beats of "More Fire" for those djs who like to / are able to get creative with their mixing.

Nun, ein halbes Jahr später, präsentiert @daniel-steinberg neun Remixe zum Longplayer. Unter den Remixern befinden sich neben Bushwacka, Terry Lee Brown Junior und DJ W!LD auch @jayhaze. „Inspiration für gute Remixe kommen von guten Originalen“, erklärt der US-Amerikaner. Wenn der ursprüngliche Track beeindrucke, gäbe es eine viel bessere Chance, etwas Interessantes zu liefern. „Ich mochte das Original und es brachte mich näher an diesen Künstler, über den ich im Anschluss an die Arbeit mehr recherchierte." Based in Hamburg, Doctor Dru hits up a remix of Sailor & I x Eekkoo, receiving strong support from Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Adriatique, Solomun, Jon Monkmon, Nick Warren, and many more.

Alongside his multi-layered history DJing, Doctor Dru works as a drummer, runs his own label, collaborates with other acts such as Adana Twins, and of course, produces his own emotive, wistful signature tracks – such as his release off Exploited’s ‘Black Jukebox 03’ compilation. He’s hit up other remixes on OFF, JEUDI Records and Stil vor Talent, and followed those up with his “Proper Lane” EP and a timeless remix of Claptone’s huge hit “No Eyes”.

In terms of performances, he has appeared at Brazil’s Warung, Destino and Ushuaia (Ibiza), Watergate (Berlin), Revolver Club (Melbourne), Loveland Festival (Amsterdam) and a many more.
