Iron Lang’s debut series of sonic installments, Only Tears Can Quell These Flames, explores the omnipresence of sound in contemporary life, emphasizing the connection between the physical world and its digital manipulation. The work reflects on how our sensory engagement with real and virtual spaces shapes our perception of acoustic phenomena and transforms our relationship with both natural and constructed environments.

Each installment is built from field recordings captured across Italy between 2023 and 2024, electromagnetic interferences, and raw sounds produced by instruments Iron Lang crafted by hand. Through digital processing, these source materials are reimagined— blurring the line between environmental texture and musical form, and turning distant murmurs and mechanical resonance into emotionally charged sonic landscapes.

💊 QBRNTHSS (pronounced “quebrantahuesos”, meaning “bearded vulture” in Spanish) is the alias that Ramon Casamajó, musician based in Barcelona, uses for his solo works focused on experimental electronics. As QBRNTHSS he has released thr split LP “Harry Dean Stanton” (Call It Anything Records 2019), and the album "The Magic Words are Squeamish Ossifrage" (via the Sheffield label Interworld Media), and has performed live internationally. In his new album “Disorder” he follows the experimental stylistic line of wild textures and broken rhythms of his previous works, but introducing a twist to more synthetic, glitch and even rave sounds at times. He also incorporates the trumpet as a sound source in some tracks, a feature he has been using in his live shows for a while.

Iron Lang marks the latest incarnation of an artist who originally emerged at the intersections of techno, industrial, and black metal. Renowned for his uncompromising intensity and sonic extremity, his early work channeled aggression through rhythm, distortion, and oppressive atmospheres, seamlessly navigating underground electronic circuits and the austere aesthetics of extreme metal. Releases on labels such as Portrayal of Guilt and collaborations with members of bands like Full of Hell positioned him as a boundary-pushing force within these overlapping scenes.
In recent years, he has withdrawn from these domains to pursue a more introspective and exploratory approach to sound. This transition led to the founding of Colossus Audio, a platform dedicated to the creation of handcrafted musical devices and experimental audio tools. In parallel, he has cultivated a practice in cinematic and commercial sound design, deepening his engagement with narrative, texture, and the emotive potential of sound.
Now working under the name Iron Lang, he opens a new chapter rooted in ambient, electroacoustic, and experimental composition. His debut series, Only Tears Can Quell These Flames, meditates on the omnipresence of sound in contemporary life and the evolving relationship between physical space and digital mediation. It reflects on how sensory experiences both natural and virtual, reshape our perception of acoustic phenomena.
Each piece is constructed from field recordings gathered across Italy between 2023 and 2024, electromagnetic interference, and raw material generated by self-built instruments. Through intricate digital processing, these elements are transformed, blurring the line between environmental texture and musical form, and reimagining distant murmurs, mechanical drones, and spectral noise as emotionally charged sonic landscapes.
