Where does hope, peace, joy and courage come from?  It comes from knowing that victory over the troubles we face in this world has already been won.  Life in this world can dishearten us, discourage us, and distress us, but it cannot dominate nor defeat us.

To take us through this passage I want answer a number of questions as we go along.  These questions will be our outline.

Thesis (Big Picture)
In our final passage in John – Jesus sums up what it means to be a Christian: to love God and follow Jesus.  This is what He is doing in our lives – He challenges and builds our faith as Peter is the model.
