I write songs for the ones who think too much, love too deeply, and carry stories they’ve never spoken out loud. Writing — and listening to music — is how I reflect, how I make sense of the chaos, and how I stay connected to what’s real.

I write what I know — even when it hurts. These are the songs I needed. Maybe you do too.

I was  an Elvis Presley tribute artist for over 35 years. I began writing songs in the late 70's, but because of how difficult it was to record back then, I put my writing on the back burner for a long time.  In the early 2000s, I began writing again.  I find it much easier now in all aspects using the newest technologies that we didn't have back when I began my career. I have a small recording studio in my spare bedroom, Nothing fancy, just a Yamaha workstation, an 8-track digital recorder, a mixing board and a studio quality mic. Pretty basic stuff.  But now we have the ability to do all of that on a computer. But again, I am old school and like writing my songs on a keyboard and recording in my little studio.  I love writing Christmas songs and I write one new one every year.  I write love songs and break-up songs and my newest is like a travel piece for Key West, FL.  "Key West Is My Favorite Island." Music wasn’t always in Sanjay blood but from a young age, music found a way of transfusing itself into his bloodstream. 

Sanjay’s upbringing in NYC exposed him to the culture, noise and expression which he knew he was destined to be a part of. After a relocation to the home of Bollywood, Rock n Roll was a million miles away but the sound of The Doors, Nirvana, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Enanitos Verdes had already told him that music was his calling. 

There was little his disapproving medical family could do to disconnect that call. After creating his own cover band, it wasn’t long before he started writing his own music and offered his signature sound to the airwaves. 
By gaining an appreciation for the nuances found in different genres, he found his sound somewhere between Alternative, Rock and Folk. Even Bollywood had a lasting influence on his multicultural dynamic sound which continues to evolve with each new musical endeavour. 

With a tendency to switch between English, Hindi and Spanish vocals, and a refusal to stick to one sound, his dynamic creativity just like his passion for music is boundless. 

From Alternative to Rock, there’s no telling what Sanjay will release next.
