This one started in the middle of the night, sung half-asleep into my iPhone on a basketball court around the corner from my studio. The idea would not leave me alone and took over a year to complete. 

It inspired by so many different areas of my musical life at the time and its form took a more classical approach in construction using thematic recurrence and development. I wanted to see what might happen if jazz based future funk might borrow some arrangement ideas from our mates from 300 hundred years ago. All of this with a strict requirement to make you get up and move you ass. Was a tough call and ended up being my teacher ..

“When The Night Gets Quite” is an emotional R&B / melodic soul track that I wrote based on the feeling of heartbreak and the quiet moments after a relationship ends, when memories and emotions return the strongest. Through this song, I want to convey the reality that some loves never fully disappear, and that even after goodbye, certain feelings continue to live within us.

The production was influenced by late-night R&B atmospheres and reflective melodic styles, allowing the emotion in the lyrics to sit at the center of the record. The track fits into my musical universe by exploring vulnerability, storytelling, and introspective late-night moods that many listeners can relate to.

I hope this single will particularly resonate with listeners who have experienced love, loss, and the lingering emotions that appear when the world slows down and the night gets quiet. This song marks an important milestone for me because it represents honest storytelling and emotional transparency in my music, and I want people to remember it as a record that speaks to the feelings we often keep hidden.

I’ve been in the U.S. Army since 2020. I came from Detroit never expecting to see the world, but the military showed me more life than I ever imagined — both the good and the painful. The Army gave me structure, pride, and a second family, but it also came with loneliness, loss, and moments that tested my strength in ways I never thought I’d face.
I spent nights in trenches, walked miles just to make it to work, and carried memories that still follow me when the lights go out. I lost battle buddies who are still with me every night before I fall asleep. There were times I wanted to quit, times I felt completely alone, but I kept going as a wounded soldier trying to stay strong.
Now I’m transitioning out of the military and finding my way back to music — the place where I’ve always told the truth. Music is how I process what I’ve lived through, what I couldn’t say out loud, and what I’m still healing from.
