The first glimpse of how powerful music is was when I watched a clip Brenda Fassie performing for Nelson Mandela. Her unapologetic boldness inspired me to write and produce music that tells my story of growing up in Kenya and America. I used bouncy melodies, changing rhythms, and a catchy hook to create the Pop Hip Hop anthem “The Body Song (Love My Body).”  Rapping and singing on this song helped me accept my body and learn to love myself, after a long and painful struggle with body image. This new found confidence also led me to write “P.U.S.S.Y.” to encourage others to speak up, tell their stories and of course, laugh a little.
           I reside in Los Angeles where besides music, I enjoy acting, hiking, reading, making pancakes and practicing my Swahili. My influences include Brenda Fassie, Dolly Parton, Missy Elliot, Mariah Carey, and Tupac.
