It is the duty of a Vaiṣṇava ācārya to prevent his disciples and followers from violating the principles of Vaiṣṇava behavior. He should always advise them to strictly follow the regulative principles, which will protect them from falling down. Although a Vaiṣṇava preacher may sometimes criticize others, Raghunātha Bhaṭṭa avoided this. Even if another Vaiṣṇava was actually at fault, Raghunātha Bhaṭṭa would not criticize him; he saw only that everyone was engaged in Kṛṣṇa’s service. That is the position of a mahā-bhāgavata. Actually, even if one is serving māyā, in a higher sense he is also a servant of Kṛṣṇa. Because māyā is the servant of Kṛṣṇa, anyone serving māyā serves Kṛṣṇa indirectly. ( CC Antya 13.133)

Avoid Criticizing Devotees & Be Proactive in Glorifying Them | HG Vaiśeṣika Dāsa | ISV | 22 Jul 2023

Wherever we are, whether it's Goloka or here, we're still eternal servants of the Lord. So in the beginning stages, we understand by hearing sambandha-jñāna that we're not Kṛṣṇa, that we're actually His servants, then that's a beginning position to chant from. The antithesis of that is mentioned by Bhaktivinoda Thākura and by Haridās Thākura in the Harināma Cintāmaṇi. That idea which contaminates the chanting is Māyāvāda, which is the idea that "I am God." "I'm just chanting. I'm temporarily inconvenienced by being in the material world, but I'll realize my godship again by chanting, and I'll merge." Sorry, everybody, but this is the antithesis of sambandha-jñāna, which means a relationship. I have a relationship. How can you have a relationship if you're one and the same? So it starts with understanding that I'm an eternal servant. I'm not the master. 

Later on, one's relationship with Krishna will be realized by the mercy of the holy name. We can't artificially know our relationship with Kṛṣṇa in Goloka Vṛndāvana. There are some people who have a premature way of offering this to others and saying that, "This is your relationship; now meditate on it." But in our line, we first meditate on the holy name and the fact that we're eternal servants, and the Holy Name reveals to us gradually what our relationship is. That comes to be known to us by Kṛṣṇa's arrangement. This you can substantiate this by reading the last song in the Saranāgati by Bhaktivinoda Thākura, in which he describes how the holy name comes to him, takes him by the hand, and introduces him to Kṛṣṇa and his relationship with Kṛṣṇa in the spiritual world.

Lessons On Chanting From Harināma Cintāmaṇi | HG Vaiśeṣika Dāsa | ISV | 10 Jul 2021

If during a japa session, we can feel that "this is where I want to be; I don't want to be anywhere else," if that feeling comes over you when you're chanting japa instead of being harassed by the thought that "oh, I need to be somewhere else. When's this going to be over?" then you're getting traction. You're going somewhere because it means we're willingly associating with the holy name. And that's the sum and substance of the process of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. How to advance is to be willingly in the association of the holy name, in a mood of service, and to feel that I don't want to be anywhere else.

Śraddhā'-śabde — viśvāsa kahe sudṛḍha niścaya kṛṣṇe bhakti kaile sarva-karma kṛta haya (CC Madhya 22.62). And part of that feeling is that everything's done by this. I can't be effectual in this world, really, because everything's already—to quote one of our leaders—"rigged." The material world. It's all rigged. The whole material world is rigged by the three modes of material nature. This is: 'tasyaiva hetoḥ prayateta kovido na labhyate yad bhramatām upary adhaḥ tal labhyate duḥkhavad anyataḥ sukhaṁ kālena sarvatra gabhīra-raṁhasā.' This means the whole world's rigged. It's already rigged. So don't worry about trying to change the karma. Worry about trying to go deeply within The Holy Name and stay in a mood of service to the holy name. And then there's happiness, and then there's traction in spiritual life.
