Dance in the Light is a modern soul reinterpretation of my award-winning poem, winner of the 2025 MotorCitySixty Poetry Competition at Clevedon LitFest.

Re-voiced by community artist Edwin Honoret using Kits.ai, this version pays homage to the spirit of 1960s Motown — the sound that broke barriers, bridged races, and turned rhythm into resistance.

The original poem was written specifically for the competition celebrating the 60th anniversary of the 1965 Motown Revue’s UK tour. Judge Adam White, Grammy nominee and author of Motown: The Sound of Young America, described it as capturing how “prejudice was essentially made irrelevant — indeed, was banished — by the overriding power and universality of that music.”

Produced and arranged by Dennis Johnstone, this track brings those words to life in sound: freedom, dignity, persistence — and the beat that still unites us all.

Primarily a lyricist, I used to write jazz lyrics back in the '90s and occasionally did some vocals with the musicians of Club Forefront (free jazz, avant-garde jazz, musique concrète). I've also written a considerable amount of poetry over the years, performing at slams until I moved to a croft in rural Scotland. These days, I'm more focused on my NHS career but restarted writing and producing, focusing on blues and folk although I write songs for friends and colleagues in other genres. Javi Frias is a well respected DJ and producer from the disco and house scene. He began collecting and playing records as a young ‘soul boy' at the end of the nineties in Madrid, his hometown, and since then he has not stopped traveling to share his music through many venues, clubs and festivals worldwide. New York, Cairo, London, Mexico City, Paris, Barcelona, Washington DC, Amsterdam or Berlin are some of the places where he has had the opportunity to carry out his incendiary, eclectic and danceable sets full of disco, boogie, afro, funk, house and soulful sounds.

In the past few years he has begun to make noise at international level thanks to his edits and reworks, published a handful of EPs and singles on influential labels like Street Edits, Tropical Disco Records, Giant Cuts, Midnight Riot, Boogie Café or Bons Records. His music is played and charted regularly by top DJs such Danny Krivit, Detroit Swindle, Red Greg, Horse Meat Disco, Jacques Renault, Rahaan, Marcel Vogel, Folamour, Get Down Edits, Frank Booker...

In 2017 he started his own label Night Shift Records, devoted to edits and reworks of disco and house, where he has released in vinyl and digital his own productions and occasionally the work of other fellow producers. He's also part of the mysterious Disco Pocho label, focused on the soul and funk side of the disco edit, where he has already released a couple of 7”.

He is currently resident DJ and booker of Discotizer, the best disco, boogie and house party in Spain, where he has invited and shared the decks with artists like Louie Vega, Joey Negro, Danny Kirivit, Eli Soul Clap, Detroit Swindle, Rahaan, Red Greg, HMD, Eli Escobar, Dan Shake, Medlar, Jacques Renault, Get Down Edits, Marcel Vogel, Ron Basejam, Art Of Tones, Luxxury, Alkalino, Eddie C, Faze Action, Dicky Trisco, The Revenge, Mr. Mendel, Alexander Nut, Ray Mang, Kon, Luke Solomon, Melvo Baptiste, Dr. Packer...

I try to write different styles of songs, for great artists who may want to use one!

My name's Henry and I f*kn love speed garage.

Cutting his teeth during lockdown-era parties, Henry’s been behind the decks ever since, pushing the underground scene with a gritty sound rooted in UKG, Speed Garage and cheeky, club-ready edits.

He began producing in 2023 and has since released three originals and an official remix, drawing inspiration from genre-definers like Interplanetary Criminal, Sammy Virji and Osmosis Jones.

A regular behind the scenes as much as on stage, Henry is the production manager and line-up curator for Australia’s largest morning rave experience ‘AM Social’, known for its sold-out shows and fast-growing community.

His motto? “Keep it simple”. There’s a lot of noise out there, so Henry focuses on what matters. Clean cuts, big energy and tracks that do the talking.
