হৃদয় পিঞ্জরে বসে ও পাখি “Hridoyo Pinjore Boshe” (Sitting in the cage of my heart) by the poet Deen Khyapa. 
This is a pure devotional song belonging to the group of songs titled Mono Shikha, which could be translated as “Conversation with the Self”. 

The song translates as follow:

“Sitting in the cage of my heart
Oh Bird ! please sing the song of enchanting name of Radha and Krishna
Oh Bird ! you sing that name I listen 
I chant that name but you don’t listen. 

The days you were in your mother’s womb
In those days you chanted that name,
But you forgot with time
Even by chance you did not take the name of Krishna. 

Sing the name with all your devotion
The karma of your animal birth
Will go away,
Your humaneness will enter
Your body being
Your inherited qualities will fade and you will lack nothing.

The sixteen names composed 
In thirty-two letters
If you take away twenty-eight letters
See my heart Radha and Krishna is made of four letters.
The sacred name of ‘Hari’ is 
Chanted by seekers
Not known by worldly beings.

Deen Khyapa says 
With great regret in his heart
To whom shall I sing this name of Hari?
And who listens?
The sorrow of Deen Khyapa’s heart remained within
I find many loved ones but not the beloved.”

Around this traditional bāul song, Gilles Monfort sang some phrases of ālāp in rāg Bhairavī, in the Ḍāgarvānī style of dhrupad singing.

জল বিনে চাতকি মরলো
হায়রে বিধি ওরে বিধি ।।
তোর মনে কি ইহাই ছিল
সমুদ্রের কিনারে থেকে
জল বিনে চাতকি মইলো

চাতক থাকে মেঘের আসে
মেঘ বর্ষাল অন্য দেশে ।।
বলো চাতক বাঁচে কিসে
ওষ্ঠা গত প্রাণ আকুল
হায়রে বিধি ওরে বিধি ।।
তোর মনে কি ইহাই ছিল
সমুদ্রের কিনারে থেকে
জল বিনে চাতকি মইলো

বিনে নব ঘন বারি
খায়না তারা অন্য বাড়ি
চাতকের প্রতিজ্ঞা ভারি ।।
যায় যাবে প্রান সেও ভাল
হায়রে বিধি ওরে বিধি ।।
তোর মনে কি ইহাই ছিল
সমুদ্রের কিনারে থেকে

লালন বলে বুঝলো না ক্ষন
হইল না মোর ভজন সাধন
ভুলে সিরাজ সাঁইজী’র চরন ।।
তাইতে জনম বৃথা গেল
হায়রে বিধি ওরে বিধি
বিধিরে………ওরে বিধি
হায়রে বিধি ওরে বিধি
তোর মনে কি ইহাই ছিল
সমুদ্রের কিনারে থেকে
জল বিনে চাতকি মইলো ।।

“The rain bird sits by the sea
Alas! she is dying without water.
Is this what you intended my beloved?

The rain bird waits for the rain cloud
The rain clouds pass away 
Shower rain in another land
Tell me friend, how that bird will survive?
Her breath is about to go out of her beck 
For the last time,
She is yearning.

The rain bird
doesn’t drink any other water 
Except the rain drops
Even if her life stops to breath
Her vow is so.

Lalan Faqir says,
Oh my heart 
Did my inner seeking happen with that one mindedness?
I forgot the essence of Siraj shai 
Now my life goes in vain. ”

সোনার পাখি “Shonar Pakhi” (The Golden Bird), first part composed by Parvathy Baul, second part by Sanatan Das Baul.

The song translates as follow:

“Oh! The golden bird,
Please don't leave the cage at once.
Sit in my heart cage
And sing the name of Hari.
 
Unattainable bird can't be tamed.
It won’t leave the cage either.
 
Oh! The golden bird,
You come and go 
In and out of the cage
Through the days and nights,
Wild bird flies away forever some day.
Oh! the golden bird,
Fakir asks:
‘Did you enter this cage by knowing?
When you fly away where do you go?’

My mad father says in your chamber of breath
The man of heart is always engrossed in divine play

In 2024, I have been awarded the prizes for the best original score and the best sound design in the “French Duck Film Festival” (Paris, Fr.), and the prize for the best original score in the festival “Feel the reel” (Glasgow, UK), for my work in the film “Sleeping Jade”, directed by Jonathan Boissinot.
