I’m always curious to try out new things and experiment with different styles. My last two tracks were a blend of cinematic and metal – but based on the feedback I’ve received, my real strength lies in cinematic music, in the spirit of composers like Hans Zimmer.
This piece is another score, a teaser that I hope you’ll enjoy.

I always found my home in art; be it visual art OR music.
After working in art, writing & dJing for years, now I'm concentrating on creating my music.
Like all my art, my songs come from my inner world, from within; they are the outlet for my memories, thoughts and feelings. They are my passion and therapy wrapped together. 
My creative process-  I write my own lyrics,  I come up with the idea and directions for the music and then I produce the songs using an AI tool for the first draft, on which later I, myself, work  in a sound editing program until I get the final track, that I'm happy with.  
I look at AI as a tool of the trade. Technology can be a great tool, if you use it as such,  you just have to be careful not to let it control your process and results

Union Alley is the creative moniker of UK guitarist and songwriter Phil Brookes, who—like many musicians—found himself at a crossroads during the global pandemic of 2020. With live music on hold and traditional industry paths shuttered, Brookes pivoted from his established role as a gigging guitarist and ventured into a new, more collaborative musical lane.

Known for his work on acclaimed UK funk outfit Funkshone’s critically respected albums Shining (2008) and 2 (2012), released on Skyline Recordings (UK) and P-Vine (Japan), Brookes had spent years performing across the UK and Europe and playing live BBC radio sessions. 

But when the world paused in 2020, his creative drive didn’t.

From this pause emerged Union Alley—a songwriting project rooted in collaboration, spontaneity, and a deep well of musical influences. Union Alley became a space where Brookes could blend his studio-honed musicianship with the connective power of the internet, inviting a revolving cast of artists to help shape each song into something unique.

With each release, Union Alley continues to defy genre boundaries, weaving together classic songwriting craft with modern sensibilities—proof that from disruption can come reinvention, and from isolation, rich musical connection.
