Only a week after becoming Australia’s newest boxing champion, Tszyu is now readying to defend the WBO super welterweight title against American Brian Mendoza on the Gold Coast next Sunday, October 15.

This certainly isn’t an easy fight for Tszyu but as long as he remains aggressive against Mendoza and lets his hands fly to the head and body he should eventually wear Mendoza down. I’m expecting Tzsyu to earn a victory in another hard-fought battle at home but needs to be wary of Mendoza’s power at all times.

Tim Tszyu claimed Australia’s super welterweight title back in 2019, scoring a unanimous decision over Joel Camilleri.

Biggs, meanwhile, claimed the strap back in July, with his TKO of Dan Hill making him Australia’s youngest national champion.

Charlo and Tszyu have been linked to a fight for quite some time, but it never came to fruition due to injuries on Charlo’s side. Charlo then took a fight against Canelo Alvarez, and Tszyu claimed Alvarez would beat the American with ease.

It would only be the second fight for Tszyu on American soil. The two were scheduled to fight in January, but Charlo’s broken hand resulted in the match being postponed. Instead of putting his career on pause to wait for Charlo, Tszyu accepted fights against Harrison and (35-3-0) Carlos Ocampo.

Opening his professional career with seven straight wins, Nikita Tszyu is now set to take a significant step up when he faces reigning national champ Dylan Biggs in Newcastle on November 22.

Apart from being the biggest fight of his career, the showdown will also see Nikita looking to become the only fighter in his family to actually hold a national strap.

Despite his father now being a Hall of Famer, Kostya Tszyu never held an Australian title while his WBO world champion brother admits his own super welterweight strap, won four years ago against Camilleri, has apparently gone MIA.

Clearly, Tszyu isn’t happy about missing another opportunity to beat Charlo. While you can say Charlo would have lots of problems with Tszyu and is ducking a fight, the primary motivation for the “Iron Man” is the cash.

As far as Alvarez goes, many boxing pundits, and even Floyd Mayweather, agree that he is ducking a fight against 26-year-old David Benavidez (27-0-0). Benavidez would make for an interesting opponent, though Alvarez would likely go into the fight as a sizable favorite.

At 183 cm, both the fighters are of the same height. Despite being of the same height, Fury has a significantly longer reach of 203 cm, which is 10 cms longer than KSI's 193 cm. Fury also has a 10 cm ape index advantage over KSI.

The DAZN pay-per-view undercard for the event is still being filled out as of now. Set for October 14th in the U.K., the few fight announcements have already generated a lot of excitement.

Rocha, 26, could in theory force a mandatory shot at some point, but we know that Crawford and Errol Spence Jr will rematch, and we also know that Crawford could leave the welterweight division behind without ever fighting at 147 again.

On that end, taking a fight with Santillan (31-0, 16 KO) is quite respectable, because in theory Rocha could take something easier — or Golden Boy could book something easier — and just “stay busy” until a potential vacant title fight.

The 31-year-old Santillan has been fighting on Top Rank cards, and we’ve noted many times that he’s been handled pretty carefully given his age and all that. For him, this is a chance to solidify himself as a real second-level contender at 147.
