Elysian Drift… Forty years in the making. We’re not kidding!

Almost forty years! Four friends from a small rural Ontario town who had the audacity to think that they could push the musical boundaries of the rock/progressive rock genre following in the footsteps of their musical influences – Pink Floyd, Rush, Supertramp, Yes, Chick Corea, The Beatles, etc.

So why did it take so long? What happened?

In a word, ‘Life’ happened – first jobs, to first loves; the marriages, the separations; births and deaths; diversions and conversions. And in spite of it all, an inexplicable energy and chemistry between us has created a unique bond under which we gather and for which we have given the name, Elysian Drift. These first songs being released were crafted in the late seventies and early eighties.

We were a bunch of kids trying to say things about which we had little or no experience; not to mention very limited musical skills with which to express them. Today we’re definitely older, maybe a little wiser and just a tad more proficient in our playing abilities.
