Based in Montreal, Canada

DJ passionné de 55 ans, j'ai débuté dans le mix en 1987, explorant les platines et les premiers lecteurs CD jusqu'en 1992. Pionnier de l’informatique musicale, j’ai commencé à mixer sur Amiga 500 dès 1989, bien avant l’ère des logiciels modernes. Après une pause, j’ai repris le mix en 2022 avec FL Studio, ce qui m’a permis de réaliser tous les projets sonores mûris au fil des années.

Mon univers : un savant mélange d’électronique vintage et moderne, où je m’inspire aussi bien de l’énergie de James Brown, du blues authentique et de l’audace de Depeche Mode. J’adore fusionner de vieilles voix blues avec des beats d’électro dark, créant des atmosphères uniques, entre nostalgie et nouveauté. Toujours curieux, je vis avec mon temps et cherche à partager ma passion de la musique sous toutes ses formes.

I'm a producer from the Netherlands who loves making EDM and dance to it. It's a hobby. Can't really put my tracks into one specific category, other than that I had fun making them.

My absolute heros and great inspiration are Moksi, Habstrakt, Joyride and Chocolate Puma.

Gilbert Le Funk is a DJ, musician and record producer.
 
Starting to compose at the age of 11, he got into music production in the late 90s, greatly influenced by the eurodance and house music of Paul Van Dyk, Bob Sinclar, Armand Van Helden, or ATB. Though later he would spend the day listening to more diverse music, from Stravinsky to Casiopea, Incognito or Frank Zappa, which lead him to learn to play electric bass and trumpet as well as setting up is own studio, where he would first work as a musical arranger for other artists.

In 2005 he was moving away from acid jazz and his label La Musique Fantastique was born, starting his Gilbert Le Funk project by making remixes for labels Delecto (CAN), Catch 22 (NYC) or Transport (SF) as well as playing some of the biggest soulful house music acts all over Spain. In 2006 he produced “Work It Out” for DJ Disciple, a track that would mark a before and after in his career, making him responsible for one of the underground hymns during that year. Later, his remix of "L.A. Girls" was premiered by Dimitri From Paris and used on the MTV series "The Hills". In 2008, "Afrikantastique" got licensed by Defected and Subliminal and it wasn't long until he became a major player in the house scene. 

A solid string of releases have followed since then, topping the charts "All About the 90s", "Something", "New Dawn" or the more recent "Wanna Be Free", taking him to tour the world as a DJ, playing venues from the US to Costa Rica, Russia or UAE.
