My Shoe Is Brighter Than Yours (2HAC)

Today's track is doing double duty as it was created for the 2 Hour Album Challenge (2hac) in addition to Jamuary. The idea of that challenge is to create a complete track, start to finish in just two hours. There's also a theme which this time around was 'Life'. 

I decided to create my track in a musique concrète style by using only recordings of animal noises which I found on freesound.org. This was hard as I was having to do sound design on the fly (e.g. creating a kick out of a pigeon call and a clap out of a dog bark) while also composing. 

I actually only spent one hour on this as we're going out to dinner in a minute so I might allow myself another hour tweaking it tomorrow for 2hac.

Menagerie Part 2 (Jamuary Day 13)

I created this tune in just 105 minutes as part of the 2 hour album challenge which invites various artists to each create a song on a specific theme in 2 hours or less. The tracks a collected and released as an album in support of an animal charity. This was my entry on the theme of 'life' — the entire track is made up of animal sounds (plug a sneaky drum beat)

This is kind of a mathrock/jazz fusion track made for Abstraction Music's 2 hour album challenge. The music proper (notes, drum track, chords) happened in under two hours. I spent a bit more time on getting instrumentation and automation right, then moving to mixdown/master.

Theme Interpretation: It became a typical frying cats into the blue theme interpretation :) somwhere in between the sounds, the worlds, the thoughts a change or transformation. It feels like the song ist between many ideas some-no-everywhere; Thinking about betweennesse likelly bringes me to time, to moments, to the pure now. It's transition and permanent state at the same time in some metaphysic loosynesse.

Let it Flow - Create Impact - Open the Brain; We met 6 hours before we went on the 2hac ride together. Found how each likes things to go, let the night be late. The name was to polarise. In the end it all made sense, Let them all life and grow. The Frying Cats are born, and friendship just begins!
