3rd WAVE Drums & Basses + Exp Vs PPG EG

One of the great things about the 3rd Wave (and I guess the PPG machines in general) is that you sometimes have absolutely no idea what will happen if you change something, even slightly. This is a tweak of a 3rd Wave Factory patch, which immediately reminded me of a Sitar. All I did was add a drone using Part 3, and there we are. Note bends are using polyphonic aftertouch from a Generalmusic/GEM S3.

3rdWave Intro

Just messing around with my new Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave and this little improvised solo thing popped out - with some percussion added later.  No outboard effects were used - just a little EQ to trim the highs and lows and slight compression on the final mix. This synth is absolutely incredible.  Playing it is just magical.

Buffalo Bill

This started out as just a "getting to know you" session with the Liquid Sky D-vices PPG W 2.2x4 module for Eurorack.  As often happens with Eurorack, you hit on a sound, a rhythm, a method that clicks, and a month later you end up with a happy little jam track like this.  

There's a lot going on in this track:

- Drums programmed in EZ Drummer
- Percussion from VPME QD driven by Grids
- Deep formant bass line from Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave
- Dual arpeggio by PPG W 2.2x4 (upper) and Plaits (lower) w/ alternating gates driven by Marbles and notes sequences driven by Rene 2
- Single arpeggio performed on Moog Matriarch
- Rhythm and lead guitars  played on a vintage Kramer Stagemaster Deluxe I through a Boss GT-100 - recorded direct
- Synth leads played on ExpressiveE Osmose controlling Deckard's Dream in MPE mode.
- Recorded and mixed in Studio One v6

Just a Jolly Jam

Galivantes are a 8 piece band who play their own style that could be described as 'bouncy Mancunicorn Shamble Skank', a mix of brass-heavy reggae disco-punk honed with their daily observations of life in general and a subliminal 'power to the people' message. 

A UK cross between Sublime, The Pixies and Cat Empire with glitter and dancing unicorns. Their message is “If there is gonna be a (non-violent) revolution, there needs to be a soundtrack and lots of dancing.”
