Sara Simms’ "855" is a minimal, melodic composition that’s sure to work its way onto dance floors around the globe. On "855", Sara pairs a punchy techno kick with a classic TB-303 acid line, and melodic phrases made with Korg’s M1. 

"855" is the eleventh release on Sara Simms’ label Simmetry Sounds. When asked about the track’s title, Sara comments, “the number 855 symbolizes major changes and significant choices in life. When I finished the session for this track, it was 8:55 pm. Later on, I discovered the number had a deeper meaning and decided to keep it as the track’s title.”

Best known for her techno sets and production skills, Sara is a multi-instrumentalist with a love for music technology. As a DJ, she's played sets for Paxahau, Allen and Heath’s live broadcast at ADE and Miami Music Week, at Charivari Detroit, and at Techno Taco Tuesday for MNTRA in Las Vegas. Sara has created projects together with Mixed In Key, Native Instruments, and 6AM. As an educator, she's put on production workshops with Point Blank, BIMM, Moog Music Inc, IO Music Academy, and Femme House.  S

Sara's label Simmetry Sounds is focused on releasing cutting-edge techno and house. Her career highlights include: playing at Ultra Music Festival (Miami), appearing on DJ QBert's Skratch University, and playing at AIR (Tokyo).

Long-standing techno force Gary Beck will return to Berlin’s Second State with a grooving and cerebral four track EP. A pillar of Scotland’s techno scene, Beck has appeared regularly at some of the globe’s most respected venues and festivals including Womb Tokyo, fabric, Output NYC and Awakenings, to name a few.

During "Psycho Babble", a resounding sample attempts to cry out over the jacking bass and kick combo, calling out in ecstasy at intervals of the track. A minimal hi-hat jumps throughout but retracts as the track increases tempo and gallops towards the end, where Beck incorporates breakbeat elements for the final leg.

Born in Detroit, techno would not be what it is today without this DJ and producer’s relentless music spirit. His music bridges time and space playing into his love of the galaxy: soft synths, brushed hi-hats & intergalactic bleeps, clicks and bells. Underground Resistance founder Jeff Mills always stays looking forward. 

Celebrating 30 years of Axis Records, his new project Mind Power, Mind Control examines the art of mental persuasion and our mind’s vulnerability in this day and age. We chatted about his inspiration behind the album, some of the roadblocks within the electronic music industry, and why it’s important to find your “why.”

A note from the artist: 

Launching in January 2022, DSC (Deepak Sharma Collection) is a new digital series where I’ll be releasing an individual track each month.

The project materialized from the pandemic as an outlet to keep busy and sane from the isolation.  From fresh material to digging into the vault and editing older sketches, everyone was fair game.

The result is a collection of varied works where the sound is consistent with what I’m known for: stripped down, rolling and hypnotic atmospheres ideal for dark dance-floors which I missed both as a DJ and a dancer.

The first two years of DSC have been completed so I see this offering becoming a resource for DJs to grab a tool when they need on a more consistent basis from me.

First access will be available on BandCamp than later in the month the usual digital outlets with its own page on Beatport and then stream services such as Spotify.

I hope you’ll join me on the journey and enjoy the series!

Synthetik Sounds is a brand-new techno record label, curated by 6AM Group, Synthetik Minds and Indonesian techno artist Ecilo.

Through their extensive work in the Los Angeles underground techno scene, 6AM Group and Synthetik Minds have cemented themselves as two of the most respected techno brands on the global scale. By featuring a big selection of the world’s most sought-after techno artists alongside a roster of impressively talented home-grown acts, their WORK warehouse event series has become a meeting point for techno aficionados near and far. Further, both are partners at COMPOUND and RE/FORM, two of the West Coast’s largest techno event concepts, further underscoring their pivotal role in the current techno scene of North America.

Jakarta-based Ecilo is a techno producer and DJ who has gained vast experience since he began his work in the techno space back in 2007. On top of an extensive touring schedule, Ecilo has received the ultimate nod of approval from none other than Jeff Mills, whose label Axis was the home of his 2021 Uncovert album. Other notable Ecilo releases can be found on Developer’s Olympian, Edit Select’s eponymous imprint, Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave, Emmanuel’s A R T S, Planet Rhythm, and more.

With a cumulative near-four-decade experience in the electronic music industry, Synthetik Sounds aims to be a home for techno artists whose sound remains true to the ethos of underground techno.

The imprint will focus on building bridges between North America, Europe, Asia, and beyond, acting as a platform for artists whose output leans both on deep, hypnotic techno as well as darker, and harder soundscapes of the genre.

The first release is an EP titled Protech The Skyline and is scheduled for April 22nd release, featuring five original tracks from Ecilo that firmly underscore Synthetik Sounds’ vision for the label: quality dance-floor focused techno fitting for the dark warehouse spaces 6AM and Synthetik Minds curate.

Reset Robot drops a new album on his label Whistleblower with an impressive 13 track release that showcases his versatility as a producer.

Covering a broad cross-section of genres, the release explores all corners of the dance floor while also incorporating some afterhours chill-out elements.

Based in the UK city of Portsmouth, Reset Robot has previously released on labels including ranging from techno imprints such as Adam Beyer's Drumcode and Scuba's Hotflush to house focused labels such as Sasha's Last Night On Earth and the iconic Mobilee Records.

Although he is well-known for his club tracks, this album is a chance for David Robertson aka Reset Robot to explore the more obscure side of his music taste, and the output in a synthesizer laden body of work that’s on a par with the seminal works of others such as Bicep and Burial.

Exploring brokenbeat rhythms, ambient textures and intricate melodies, this album is a thought-provoking selection that flows with a captivating suspense.

Subdued and introverted, it’s got a lo-fi and dreamy aesthetic that occasionally lets fly into a dance floor orientated groove. “Chords N Thing”, “Single Coil” and “Waves” are both examples of this, but tracks like “How Deep”, “Crows” and “Unknown Unknowns” are at opposite ends of the same spectrum with their ambient moods.

The projects are often shrouded in secrecy, but in addition to his own music, Reset Robot also works behind the scenes with some of electronic music’s biggest names, and this album is testament to why so many trust his production skills.

Hailing from humble beginnings in the UK underground, Dax J needs no introduction. One of the modern day faces of techno, Dax has been involved in the scene since he was a young kid DJing on pirate radios in his hometown. Now running his own label Monnom and his own Dockyard Festival during the annual Amsterdam Dance Event, Dax is a certified tastemaker these days. Don’t count him out as just another techno DJ, though. Dax’s roots in other genres such as garage, jungle, DnB, and more provide constant inspiration to him as an artist. Dax sat down with us ahead of his headlining performance at our own REFORM festival to discuss his underground inspiration behind his Soul Enforcer EP compilation, benefiting the Ukrainian crisis.
