Another one shot non stop back-to-back vinyl mix (of sorts) with my good friend Ave Sea in Berlin !! we did two sessions, this is the second session, a bit harder than the previous, with slightly more recent tracks :)

Started in 1998 on basic.ch in Geneva and continued at reboot.fm in Berlin, as well as on www.mixcloud.com/plastiquedereve/ during the past two decades, the RETROFUTUR series aim at featuring gems, classics, rarities and lesser known tracks of the early developments of electronic dance music in the 70s, 80s & 90s, with a selection of tracks from my personal discothèque or that of similar-minded guests and friends.

Swiss dj and producer Plastique De Rêve hails from Geneva and has just returned home after 20 years living in Berlin.

Born in Australia, raised to 70s electronic disco and his parents’ Kraftwerk records in the outskirts of Nairobi, then to DAF, new wave and EBM back in Europes' 1980s, Plastique has been fascinated by electronic sound since childhood and dabbling into electronic music since 1984 !!

After several live EBM and experimental performance groups, then acid, techno and early rave projects, contemporary art installations and KLF-inspired performances across the 90s, Plastique released two 12” electro bombs on International Deejay Gigolo Records at the beginning of this century, which helped him to become one of the pioneering names of the Swiss electro scene.

After the highlight of the Gigolo era, Plastique moved on with releases on other top international labels such as Turbo, Mental Groove, Kitty Yo, or DFA. His electro, disco, breakdance and acid house influenced productions have been played and playlisted by many top djs across the world.

Today Plastique De Rêve lives and works in Berlin, as ever into futuristic electro, techno, acid house and cosmic disco, but also weird ambient soundtracks for film, installations and performances.

Plastique is also one half of cosmic disco duo NOO signed to Optimo Music Disco Plate, and has just released the first album of an ambient side-project called Ange Du Bizarre.

Since 2019 he is also co-host and producer of the Sound Of The System radio shows on Berlin's independent station reboot.fm, together with Andrew Claristidge (Acid Washed).

Who am I

I have a long-standing experience with the dancefloor. Between 2𝒌09 and 2𝒌12 I used to go out in Dubstep and Trap parties in Paris, notably at Batofar, Social Club etc.

My first Techno party, and my encounter with this environment, dates back to 2𝒌11 at the Palais des Congrès in Montreuil (Die Nacht party) where I discovered that all the music I had listened to until then was directly descending from this style. Techno was in some way the flagship, so I fell into it.

I started mixing on a controller in 2𝒌13, I switched to CDJ the following year playing pirated YouTube to MP3 sounds and I played in Bars and Clubs between Angers and Nantes until 2𝒌15.
Always looking for the ‘source’ style, I was very interested in Techno from the 90's and at that time the French urban public was not ready to listen to music exceeding 130 bpm so it was kind of hard to play that style. Let's also say that the Techno scene in Paris was completly dead in the late 00's and it kind of a revival early 10's.

In 2𝒌15 I moved to Berlin where I finally stopped mixing because I didn't have anything to train with (I left everything in France) and because of a lack of self-confidence. In hindsight I think I missed some great opportunities.

I finally bought myself something to mix on vinyl in 2𝒌17 and returned to live in France early 2𝒌19.

Since then I'm in Paris and did many small dates notably at Le Gore or Le Sample, Les Nautes, Le 9B etc.
