Abakisimba (Let the lion remain a lion) are an ensemble of percussionists, poets, musicians and dancers from different ethnic backgrounds in Kenya. Around the rhythms of traditional drums they compose modern tunes full of soul, drive and wisdom, blending homegrown styles like Benga with Rap or Reggae, to create their unique sound. More than just grooves, their songs dive deep to lyrically explore topics like social consciousness, environmental responsibility and personal liberty. 

This self-titled album represents the group's comeback from their creative hiatus, with harmonious and energetic songs that inspire both the body and the mind - forever trotting along the borderlands between past and present. A catchy and rebellious record, that ultimately plants a seed in those receptive for its poetry of growth.
