Music... instrumentals and vocals along with a mixture of comedy skits with the most requested stars of the era appeared on Command Performance. Only heard via shortwave radio and not on standard radio broadcast stations.  Talent, Technical Crew, Facilities... were all donated to this extremely popular show that was designed to raise the morale of our fighting men and women during WW II. It was broadcast and thankfully preserved by the Armed Forces Radio Service for us to enjoy some 80+years later.  Track lives in "Jazz and Big Band" Playlist.

Audio intro gives brief history of the series and introduces the actors and the roles they played.  There are only a few recordings of this series known to exist and most are suffering from poor audio.  This is a rebroadcast of the Armed Forces Radio Service broadcast in 1945.  As mentioned in the past, the AFRS did a much better job at preserving their transcription discs than the regular broadcast networks did... This track will be found in the "Mystery, Crime" Playlist

This is a 15 minute Gi-Jive radio show prior to GI-Jill (Martha Wilkerson) hosting as the DJ.  Frank Nelson is the DJ on this show that was produced by "Yank - The Army Weekly Magazine" and broadcast over shortwave radio to our troops overseas.  The songs played were requested by the soldiers.

Command Performance for the Armed Forces Radio Service from July 28, 1942.  Features Cary Grant and Emcee with a variety of guests that are introduced in the audio introduction.  Command Performance was not broadcast on national networks... only via shortwave radio to troops during WW II.  Guest lists were requested by troops through cards and letters and Command Performance delivered!  These productions were totally donated from equipment and building to every technician and appearing performer. A popular 15 min transcribed country western radio show supported by the United States Army Recruiting Dept.  Many of the regulars, llike Jimmy Dean, were in the Army at the time they hosted and performed on these shows.  Special guest on this show was supposed to be Patti Page, but she had a schedule conflict and substituing for her are Homer and Jethro - very popular comic country singers.
