Joanna Peña-Bickley is an inventor and a design technologist known as the mother of Cognitive Experience Design. Named one of Fortune's Most Powerful Women, she’s been at the forefront of A.I. aided generative design, and has created her own framework with principles to ensure that A.I. enhances humans.
 
Born a dyslexic child in San Antonio, TX, a thread throughout Joanna’s unlikely career is crafting magical experiences whether it was inventing one of the first streaming video players for ABC or designing the first banking app on the Apple Watch for Citibank. She’s also designed the first smart mobility platform for General Motors, invented new ambient intelligent Alexa Devices for Amazon, and also reimagined the world's mobility for Uber.
 
A fan of science fiction and a Trekkie at heart, Joanna has always seen the link between fiction and invention. She’s bringing this to Sensory6, her new A.I. company focusing on making people more resilient through bio wearable technology and human digital twins. The company is on a mission to augment our intelligence and give us superpowers to adapt.
 
And in being unapologetically herself, she’s also an avid organizer and advocate for women and girls in design and tech. She co-founded Designed By Us, a cooperative dedicated to accelerating gender equity in S.T.E.A.M.D, which is Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math, and Design education.


Joanna believes that we all have the power within us to design a better future, and A.I. needs infinite diversity and infinite combinations to bring its promise of an equitable future into fruition.

From Classroom Teacher to AI-Collaborative Author, Meet J. Thorn.

J. is an independent publisher and author who has published more than two million words, sold more than 185,000 books worldwide, and is an official member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, the Horror Writers Association, and the Great Lakes Association of Horror Writers.
Co-founder of the Writers, Ink podcast with J.D. Barker, J. has interviewed some of today's most successful authors including Matthew McConaughey, James Patterson, Dean Koontz, Seth Godin, Joyce Carol Oates, Chuck Palahniuk, and many more.

J. earned a B.A. in American History from the University of Pittsburgh and a M.A. from Duquesne University. He is a husband, father, full-time writer, and a part-time professor at John Carroll University.

You're in for a treat as Domhnaill shares his unique perspective on the evolution of the internet from 2D to 3D, the current state of the metaverse, and the imperative for businesses to invest in it, especially with Gen Z’s adoption of it. He runs an artist-in-residence program at EY to deeply infuse artists' perspectives and challenge technologists to think beyond technology-only solutions. The Metaverse is Dead; Long Live the Metaverse! Domhnaill Hernon, Global Lead of EY Metaverse Lab

Discover thought-provoking exhibits that interrogate A.I. through art with Marlies Wirth, the Curator for Digital Culture and Head of the Design Collection at the MAK — Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria. 

As a curator and art historian, Marlies explores the cultural, social, ecological, and political impacts of the digital age and the role of art and design in re-imagining our relationship with the planet.

Exhibits Marlies has curated and that we discuss in today’s episode include “Artificial Tears,” “Hello, Robot. Design between Human and Machine,” “Uncanny Values. Artificial Intelligence & You,” “Pardon Our Dust,” “/imagine: A Journey into The New Virtual,” and “edging.” Each explores technology’s impact on society and culture beyond their surface design, which is a lifelong passion and pursuit of Marlies who also regularly takes part in international lectures, talks, and juries on art, design, and digitalization. Alongside her institutional work, she also develops independent exhibition projects with international artists and writes essays and texts for publications.
 
In today’s conversation, Marlies discusses the relationship between humans and machines and what makes us uniquely human, like our tears, which can’t be automated. We also explore singularity, identity play in immersive environments, and the need to address corrupt human data, which can lead to issues like racial bias in crime prediction.

Interrogate A.I. with Art | Marlies Wirth, Curator for Digital Culture, MAK — Museum of Applied Arts

What if you could have a conversation with Salvador Dalí? Now you can…with the A.I. version of Dalí!

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Surrealism, we have a special Creativity Squared episode for you today with none other than the legendary Surrealist artist, Salvador Dalí…or rather, the A.I.-reimagined Dalí! The artist famously wrote, “If someday I may die, though it is unlikely, I hope the people in the cafes will say, ‘Dalí has died, but not entirely.’” 
 
The Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida is one of the most innovative museums in the world. Today, the museum is unveiling its latest project bringing Salvador Dalí back to life through artificial intelligence called “Ask Dalí.” This custom-built chatbot is trained on Dalí’s writings and voice so museumgoers can interact directly with the artist through a Surrealist lobster telephone. 

To add color and context to this conversation, we also have Martin Pagh Ludvigsen joining us. Martin was on a SXSW panel called, “Salvador Dalí, AI, and The Future of Creativity.” “Ask Dalí” was demoed on stage where host Helen Todd asked if Dalí would be a guest on Creativity Squared!  
 
Martin is a Creative Technologist, A.I. Director, and head of Labs at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. Originally from Denmark, Martin holds degrees in Computer Science and Theater Science, where his creative journey started by moving his body on stages and then by moving pixels on screens. Martin uses cutting-edge tech to tell stories for brands and has directed award-winning work globally. Like many others, Martin likes to tinker and break things. But unlike most, he also likes putting them back together in new and unexpected ways.
 
The Dalí Museum is a client of Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, and Martin was instrumental in bringing “Ask Dalí” to life. You’ll learn more about this project and the museum’s other groundbreaking work using VR, synthetic media, and OpenAI’s DALL-E in their exhibitions. And yes, you’ll also get to hear Dalí answer questions at the intersection of A.I. and creativity on today’s show, including the one “he” recommended on stage at SXSW.

A.I. Salvador Dalí: The Dalí Museum’s OpenAI GPT-4 ‘Ask Dalí’ with GS&P’s Martin Pagh Ludvigsen

Yemi A.D. (Yemi Akinyemi Dele) is a multidisciplinary creative force dedicated to helping people unlock their creative potential. He’s also preparing for his biggest mission yet: a trip around the Moon!  

As a Czech-Nigerian artist, entrepreneur, and crew member of the dearMoon mission, Yemi exemplifies a pioneering spirit and profound passion for social innovation and youth empowerment. 

Yemi is the Founder & CEO of Moonshot Platform, an organization dedicated to accelerating young leaders working towards solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals. His 20 years of experience across the industries of entertainment, arts, and technology includes collaborating with Grammy Award-winning artist Kanye West for five years to create and execute his global concerts, tours, and music videos. Yemi also works with brands like Google, Apple, Coca-Cola, and T-Mobile, and speaks on stages like TEDx, Texas Eclipse Festival, and SXSW on the future of creativity and space exploration. 

As a choreographer, Yemi was chosen from among 1 million candidates to be a crew member of dearMoon, marking the first all-civilian space trip around the Moon. He’s one of the eight artists chosen to join Japanese entrepreneur and art collector Yusaku Maezawa, who believes art has the power to promote world peace.      

Yemi’s love of movement and finding freedom in movement are intertwined into all aspects of his life, which you’ll hear in the conversation.

In this episode, listen to Yemi's incredible journey from growing up as the only Black child where he was raised in Czechoslovakia to his rise as a creative powerhouse and to traveling into space. We also dive into how Yemi's studies of indigenous cultures worldwide gave him insight into the intelligence of movement. After the ocean evaporates into rainbows, you find yourself in a desert world flying. After finding a city scape in the desert, the cities turn into mechanical dragons.
In the dragon scene a sense of worry is created that goes into loneliness when your surroundings suddenly turn into a psychedelic yellyfish mushroom forest where nothing is what it seems. 
The scene ends with a massive musical drop and your journey continues into wonder and nativity when you turn into a young cat-girl with her cat in a space forest. 
After the cat goes into space, time and DMT elf entities will meet you, what is time in this world? 
Time turns into a tree of life and worship of nature brings all the scenes to a stop. 
The tree turns into a lonesome horse-entity and powers to space, you found the end, or is it just the beginning as the scenes all reverse and the music picks up to guide you back down to the forest of the beginning.

I've been working many weeks on this project I hope you enjoy it as I have while creating it. 
I created all the ai art and video editing in my home studio and later at the AMW studio LIVE played/recorded all the audio in 1 recording DJ set. 
The first track is my own production which is timed to the video, I used ai to generate most of the samples of this song.
