“Freedom Songs” was written as the concluding composition in a concert series entitled “From Opera To Hip Hop: A Celebration Of American Voices.” The work received its premiere in May of 2024, at the Historic Morton Theatre (the first black-owned business in the city of Athens, Ga.), as part of the Chamber Music Athens series co-sponsored by the University of Georgia, Hodgson School of Music, and the Morton Theatre Corporation.
