Broadcasting legend Doug Rice joins Davey Segal this week (9:10) ahead of the return of NASCAR to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval for the Brickyard 400. Amid his final season or "Doug's Last Lap," Rice explains why now is the right time to step away, discusses the gestures tracks have done for him in his final stops to them so far this season, leaving the Performance Racing Network in good and capable hands having been there since day one and more.

Rice dives into his broadcast beginnings at Appalachian State University, reminiscing on listening to Atlanta Braves games on the radio growing up, how he got started in motorsports and with PRN at Charlotte Motor Speedway, shares some Bruton Smith and Humpy Wheeler stories, a hilarious tale of driving Richard Petty home from the airport and his relationship with Kyle Petty.
