It was moderated by Perry Hamalis of North Central College and Helen Theodoropoulos of the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox School of Theology on February 17, 2022, at the University of Chicago's Swift Hall.

This lecture discusses key ideas from the 20th century German philosopher, sociologist of knowledge, and phenomenologist, Max Scheler's work Ressentiment, which provides an interpretation of Friedrich Nietzsche's concept of that same name. It focuses on his discussion in the third part of the work "Christian Morality and Ressentment" of pre-Christian Greek and Roman viewpoints on the nature and value of love, looking particularly to philosophers and poets.

Max Scheler, Ressentiment - Pre-Christian Greek Notions Of Love - Sadler's Lectures

In this ninety-fifth episode of the Wisdom for Life radio show, hosts Dan Hayes and Greg Sadler revisit the current political, economic, and cultural situation we find ourselves within now that the Trump administration has been in power for several months.. A number of norms that people have taken for granted and trusted in over the the years were in the process of being gradually eroded, but now they are being undone or violated at a much more accelerated pace. Returning to this topic from the previous episode, they discuss the wider ramifications of this erosion and breakdown of norms for the wider society of American culture, including the uncertainties about the future it produces, and increases in tribalism among even reasonable people. They bring in several theoretical perspectives to help understand this, including those of Aristotle and Emile Durkheim, and they suggest a few useful practices for dealing with this breakdown in norms, a topic they promise to return to in greater depth in the next episode

This lecture discusses key ideas from the early modern philosopher Francis Bacon's work Novum Organum, specifically the section in book 1 covering the "four idols of the human mind"

This episode focuses specifically on his description of the fourth type of idol, those of the theater, which derive from either entire philosophical systems, which Bacon likens to fictions and plays, or from perverted rules of demonstration,  or from too exclusive of a focus on one aspect or element of a science. Bacon divides the three kinds of philosophies he criticizes into sophistic (exemplified by Aristotle), empiric, and superstitious or theological (exemplified by Plato).
