Episode 286 - Children of Men

Children of Men (2006) is one of the finest dystopian future movies ever committed to film… that no one seems to remember.  Which is weird, because it has one of Clive Owen’s best hangdog performances, and a supporting cast (Julianne Moore, Michael Caine & Chiwetel Ejiofor) that most movies would kill for.  Plus, Alfonso Cuarón directed some of the most amazing “single-shot” action sequences of all time in what should have been a sure-fire classic of speculative fiction.  Instead, this very prescient story about the world falling apart at the seams came and went with a shrug from most.  Which is a damn shame, because this movie packs a real wallop. Do yourself a favor and watch it, then listen to this very special podcast!

Csaknem egy évtized után tavasszal visszatér a legkülönösebb kungfu mester a DreamWorks Animation fergeteges sorozatának baresz új fejezetében. Bátor Sárkányharcosként végigcsinált három halált megvető kalandot, és most a sors újabb feladat elé állítja: pihenjen már egy kicsit. Pontosabban hogy legyen a Békevölgy szellemi vezetője.

Ezzel van néhány nyilvánvaló probléma. Egyrészt Po annyit tud a szellemi vezetésről, mint a paleodiétáról, másrészt gyorsan találnia kell egy új Sárkányharcost, és ki kell képeznie, mielőtt átvehetné új, magas beosztását. Ám ami még rosszabb, mostanában láttak felbukkanni egy gonosz, nagy hatalmú varázslónőt, Kaméleont, aki apró gyík létére fel tudja venni bármilyen lény alakját, legyen az nagy vagy kicsi. És Kaméleon ráveti dülledt kis szemét a bölcsesség pálcájára, amivel hatalmában állna megidézni az összes gonosztevőt, akiket Po átküldött a szellemek birodalmába.

Pónak tehát segítségre lesz szüksége. Meg is találja – nagyjából – egy ravasz, gyors eszű tolvaj, Zhen személyében, aki egy pusztai róka, azaz korzak, és nagyon Po bögyében van, de a képességei felbecsülhetetlenül értékesek. Ha meg akarják védeni a Békevölgyet Kaméleon hüllőkarmaitól, akkor a komikus párosnak össze kell dolgoznia. És miközben zajlanak az izgalmas és mulatságos események, Po rájön, hogy a hősök bizony a legváratlanabb helyeken teremnek...
