So i bought Grateful Dead Live album from 1969 and when i put the record on it started 'skipping' in this one groove and looped itself and made sort of accidental beat. So of course, me being the looper aficionado that i am, I decided to record the loop and use that as the foundation for this freestyle track i call; 'Stuck like Glue'. 

Theres 8 tracks total (6 if you dont include the freestyle rap) including a live layer of electric guitar. Everything is 100% original besides the recorded loop of course.

I also released a tiktok video about how i created this song and am making it (as well as an instrumental version) available to download for free!

Everything is original..starting with the MIDI beat... then after a few more MIDI instrument layers...I added a reverse electric guitar recorded on a mic through my amp then added effects galore to that. That's FX iyktyk... I'm about to take music more seriously I love producing in my home studio. 

I also used a recording of my voice for the vocal samples and pitched it down and did a bit of ambient singing  too which was especially gratifying. Feeling super inspired lately. Love y'all.

Finally getting into dj’ing and making mixed mostly use DJpro software and Free DL from my fav artists on SC.

I’m a self taught musician.  
Started as a drummer then learned piano. Played in bands my whole life; as a bassist, rhythm guitarists and singer. I really got into recording and producing beats in abelton and recording my own songs and jams  in the past 10 years. 

I love festivals more than anything and it is my dream to perform and play pop ups and renegades!

Born in 1978 in Germany, Roul Bauer—better known as Vicious Steam Engine—discovered his passion for techno during the explosive rave movement of the 1990s in Switzerland and Germany. Deeply inspired by the driving rhythms and hypnotic energy of the scene, he carried that passion forward until it fully ignited during the COVID-19 lockdown in August 2020. It was then that his desire to create his own sonic journeys came to life.

A year later, he began producing his own techno tracks and honed his mixing skills through a DJ/mixing workshop with Mixmasters.ch. To sharpen his craft and connect with the underground community, he launched his own podcast on SoundCloud: Hot Pressure Stream. Originally started as a training ground, the podcast quickly gained momentum, attracting a growing audience and guest DJs such as Anne Rosko, Isca Nublar, 909RIOT, Traumtherapie, DJ E-Viction, Tchie, Andy Pirie, Techno X-Citement, DJ Capelli, X-Dream, and Nao Tamura.

Vicious Steam Engine has made guest appearances on several respected underground techno podcasts, including TECNO OSCURO (2 DJ sets), A Darker Wave, Techno Topic by Andy Pirie, and RTDFRAVERRADIO (Brooklyn, NY). He has also been featured on Capelli’s Outta Freak’in Control Podcast, an episodic series that showcases cutting-edge underground talent and airs on RTDFRAVERRADIO.com. His recent guest sets placed him alongside legendary and rising artists such as Frankie Bones, Lenny Dee, Jim Solis, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Rewilder, Chris Liberator, DJ Papa Smrf, Jay Maniakal, DJ Capelli, DJ Hooraa, Bösetecha, Destro187, and Belaroc.

On November 28, 2021, Vicious Steam Engine released his debut EP Dark Dance of Gratitude on TECNO OSCURO, followed by the Kill the Silence EP on April 18, 2022.

Since 2023, he has taken a deep dive into music production, attending two techno retreats hosted by Mixmasters.net in Ibiza. There, he studied with industry legends such as Funk D’Void, Patrik Berg, Harvey McKay, Wehbba, and Josh Wink. He is currently advancing his production skills through an online course in electronic music at Sinee Institute, led by Björn Torwellen, while also mastering the Ableton Push 2.

With relentless dedication to evolving his sound, Vicious Steam Engine continues to build momentum and forge his path in the global techno scene.
