John 15:1-8
All through the New Testament you can see that spiritual fruit is expected from the Christian life.  Jesus tells us, “You shall know them by their fruit.”
It is very important to note that the fruit the Lord expects in our lives is not the goal of the Christian, but the proof, or evidence of our abiding in Him.

Bearing Fruit

Jesus explains how abiding in him and relying the Holy Spirit enables believers to cope with hostility from the world. John 15:12 - 16:4.

Rest for your soul (Matthew 11 : 28)
Direction for your life (Psalm 119 : 105)
Peace that the world can’t give (John 14 : 27)
Wisdom for every decision (Proverbs 2 : 6)

It’s all in His Word. But the key is this: You must abide in Him through prayer.

This isn’t a message to admire.
It’s an invitation to act.

Don’t wait for perfect conditions.
Start today. Open your Bible. Open your heart.
Put the distractions down and receive the gift of prayer.

Peace has a lot of meanings spanning the mere absence of conflict to the active establishment of justice, but it is rarely thought of as an entity that takes up space. When Jesus sends his disciples on a preparatory mission, however, he sends them with no resources other than peace... and that peace is enough. It is a powerful gift to settle on those who welcome them and something that will return to them if offered to those who reject its value. How might it transform our experiences of being called to share in the work of God to believe that God's peace is a real and transformative asset?
