Violet starlight flickers against a velvet void as the cosmic desert exhales its first pulse. Beneath that pulse six chrome-shelled sand-skimmers rest like dormant predators, engines humming at the edge of silence. Captain Vel Anteras swings a leg over the lead hull, his weather-tattered cloak snapping in the faint solar wind. In his palm glows a crystal compass—its needle refuses to point north, instead twitching toward a jagged fissure in the sky: the Prism Gate, a rift rumored to weave rhythm into wormholes.

One sharp twist of the throttle and the entire caravan erupts forward. The skimmers skim a desert of liquid glass, carving mirrored wakes that fling prismatic shards into the air. Each shard hangs momentarily like a frozen lightning bolt before dissolving into a mist of rainbow static. The bass throb of their anti-grav drives merges with a percussion of skittering micro-rocks, forming an accidental symphony that echoes for light-years across the dunes.

Soon the horizon buckles. A single dune rises higher than any mountain—its grains flash through colors no spectrum can name, cycling from prehistoric shades of ochre to futurist neons birthed in laboratories yet unbuilt. Vel powers down and steps onto its shifting flank. Time thickens. Every footprint detonates into cloudlets of fractured memories—childhood rainstorms, half-forgotten melodies, strangers’ kisses tasted only in dreams. The world slows to the heartbeat of a slumbering star.

But the lull is a trick. A sudden thunder of crystal hooves shatters the trance. Shards of those earlier rainbow mists have fused into translucent beasts: giraffe-long necks of glass, lion torsos refracting desert light like living chandeliers. They charge alongside the skimmers, their footfalls chiming as if a cathedral bell tower were galloping at full tilt. Vel laughs, steering through the crystalline stampede, sparks of mirrored sand tick-tacking off his visor.

An eye-blink later, the roar collapses into hush. Where sound once pounded, silence now rings. A silver pool—smooth as mercury—materializes at dune’s base, offering stillness so complete it swallows breath. Vel kneels, cupping liquid metal that weighs nothing yet drips memories of languages no tongue has spoken. One sip, and he recalls how it feels to be born tomorrow.

The beat returns—faster, tribal, insistent. Thirteen moons slide across the violet star, stacking atop one another like the tumblers of an interstellar lock. Each eclipse click syncs to the caravan’s drum-laced engine rhythm. Gravity hiccups. Skimmers hop from one sliver of reality to the next, bouncing between dimensions as easily as children skip stones across a pond.

Vel’s compass spins wild, then locks onto a new signal: a neural riptide roaring eighty meters ahead. Invisible yet deafening, the current is an ocean made of forgotten tweets, orphaned lullabies, and half-erased diary entries. The caravan dives in. Sonic waves of acid-bright arpeggios batter them left and right, rewriting neurons in real time. Memories flash-update; old scars heal; ancient grudges flicker out like bad code purged from a system. They emerge dripping data that shimmers like dew on circuit boards.

This opportunity we invited a loved friend Vinyan, from Zurich. 
We wanted to ask him some questions:

1. What do you think digging and musical curation have in common — whether it's building a set or choosing an artist for your label, Intersub?

Discovering old records hidden in shelves, that are almost some sort of a relict or a timestamp, is quite different than getting to know most of the artists we feature in real life after hearing them play or discovering them on various platforms.
This being said, it is still a similar process but instead of records, I find it’s interactions I have with artists we discover mostly in or around Zurich.

I like to push unknown artists whether it’s on a turntable or a compilation of our own imprint.
Zurich is small, so it isn’t uncommon to get to know each other at concerts, cultural events or at after parties in a basement if you’re down for it. I’m quite a social animal so it kinda comes easy and it gives me a lot of joy.

2. As someone who plays both live and DJ sets, what would you say is essential when developing a performance, whether it's live, played or recorded?

 If time allows, which mostly is the case, preparation is key - but a healthy amount of improvisation is what I like as well whether it’s live or djing. In the live context, maybe my drums and some basslines are pre planned to have a foundation and on top of this, melodies, chords and effects can be improvised.

In the club it’s similar. I might plan half the set to kinda have this foundation as well and to somewhat settle in to my surroundings. Depending the crowd and time I play, I let loose from those constructs earlier than expected.
But then as well, DJ sets with zero planning are nice. I like challenges!

3. How did you first get into music? Are there any particular influences that stand out for you and that you’d like to share?

When I was around 8 or 10 years old, my neighbour’s dad had these techno tapes he recorded from radio shows and we would sit in-front of the stereo system, hypnotised by those sounds coming out of the speakers, listening to them for hours.

After that, I got my hands on the cds and records from my dad as well, which had quite a wide range from trance, minimal, chill out to funk and disco.

After playing shortly in school and punk bands as a guitarist/bassist, it’s electronic music that stayed with me. For about 10 years now I’ve been DJing and producing - a place I still feel very at home in. Having my first proper studio in an air raid shelter allows me to keep following my passion for music and focussing on new projects as much as I can.

4. Could you tell us a bit about the electronic music scene in Zurich? And what did you take back with you from our city BA?

From my experience, we have a really supportive and vibrant underground scene for the size of our city.
People engage in each others projects, exchange knowledge, and are fierce for trying out new things.
Seeing the younger generation coming with fresh energy, motivation and the same ethos is great and therefore you see both young and old starting or part-taking in things like illegal clubs, offspaces, outdoor parties in the forests, or new labels - you name it.
 
Being able to visit Buenos Aires back in 2023 in the context of music. Getting to know Jeremy Flagelo in person, who I was connected to via Mati Espina a few years back. I was grateful having him and his D.I.Y approach in the mastering context on board for intersub. It’s this punk attitude I adore.spending time in Cyberwax, visiting a Pryma party. Closing this time with a little gathering celebrating the 2nd VA of Intersub with a listening session and all the people I met on a roof terrace was heartwarming.

Taking this energy back to Zurich helped me to continue having this motivation to connect people, share and make music together. Don’t forget to never stop doing what you love, ever.

Der in Hannover ansässige Künstler mit italienischen Wurzeln hat sich in der Musikszene einen Namen gemacht, indem er mitreißende elektronische Musik und beeindruckende Remixe bekannter Chartsongs kreiert. Mit einem unermüdlichen Enthusiasmus für die elektronische Musik begann seine musikalische Reise bereits im zarten Alter von 15 Jahren.

DesignerDrums' musikalische Reise begann als er zum ersten Mal in die pulsierende Welt der elektronischen Musik eingetaucht ist. Inspiriert von legendären DJs und Produzenten, fand er rasch seine eigene kreative Stimme und entwickelte seinen einzigartigen Stil. Geprägt von seiner italienischen Herkunft, fließen leidenschaftliche Melodien und mitreißende Rhythmen in seine Produktionen ein, die das Publikum in ein pulsierendes Tanzfieber versetzen.

Neben seinem Talent als Produzent entdeckte DesignerDrums auch seine Fähigkeit, Menschen mit seiner Musik zu verbinden, als DJ. An den Turntables fühlt er sich in seinem Element und sorgt bei Live-Auftritten dafür, dass die Menge in Ekstase gerät. Seine energiegeladenen Performances und die Fähigkeit, die Crowd in einen wahren Rausch zu versetzen, haben ihm eine treue Fangemeinde eingebracht, die immer wieder nach mehr verlangt.

DesignerDrums liebt es, mit verschiedenen Musikstilen zu experimentieren und seinen elektronischen Sound durch die Fusion von Genres zu erweitern. Doch sein wahres Talent zeigt sich in seinen kreativen Remixen von bekannten Chartsongs. At age 14 I started mixing happy hardcore before discovering to drum bass, and by 18 was stomping to acid techno at a free parties and Headcharge in the legendary Sheffield Arches. 
The Prodigy has always been my favourite live event, and recently, Ren’s music has really resonated with me. Come for the beats, stay for the obscure references and questionable life choices.

Born in the dust-filled vibes of a ‘90s apartment, Grass Patch Bum started spinning records back when vinyl was king and internet cafes were revolutionary. Armed with a crate of vinyl, Grass Patch Bum dived headfirst into underground raves and sweaty house parties, learning the art of blending beats on turntables and (eventually) the "futuristic" CDJs. But the journey didn't stop there.

After taking a hiatus to dive into the world of FL Studio and dissect the mechanics of production, Grass Patch Bum came back stronger, with a repertoire of original sounds and the technical chops to match. Fast forward, and they've turned dancefloors upside down from Thailand to Vietnam, Bali to the heart of Europe. Now, powered by Ableton Live and a creative arsenal that refuses to stay in one genre, Grass Patch Bum weaves sonic journeys that blend groove, grit, and just a sprinkle of nostalgia for the good ol' days.

Catch him live for a taste of nostalgia, modern beats, Latin grooves, electronic melodies, and a wide range of liquid sounds. Whether it's a tropical beach in Thailand or an underground club in Berlin, Grass Patch Bum brings thems booty movements like no other.
