Francis Ford Coppola's long-awaited passion project, Megalopolis, self-funded to the tune of $120m, has finally arrived. We love it. It's wild, imaginative, earnest, and beautiful. We discuss and decry some of the criticisms of it we've already seen while coming up with some of our own - how could we have known that an octogenarian might hold some rather traditional views? - in between breathlessly enthusing about what captivated us.

Megalopolis is hardly a perfect film but it's a visual treat and a fantastic cinematic experience. Don't let the naysayers' sniping turn you off. Indulge!

THE LAST DUEL - is a masterpiece

Oh boy.

Trust us, we tried. We really did. We came to this movie with the same enthusiasm as all offbeat projects that we try to enjoy. Hell, we talked about Cloud Atlas last week, and we were sure Francis Ford Coppola's new film would be a similarly-weird, love-it-or-hate-it affair.

But try as we might, we just cannot crack Megalopolis. At all. Small bits of light here and there are smothered by a film that's confused, bloated and pretentious when it isn't being nigh-incomprehensible. Optimistic messaging gets buried in strange plotting and shallow characters. Amazingly-talented (and expensive) actors utterly wasted. And that's before we get to the misconduct and behind-the-scenes drama around the making and distribution of Coppola's "Fable".

We tried. But the truth is clear. Megalopolis is a bad, bad movie.
