Last year March, I stumbled across a D'Angelo instrumental entitled "Inst 5" and immediately fell in love with it. I wanted to say "You'll always have a place in my heart" in the most sincere way possible. That began my writing exercise, and after a couple hours of hard thinking, "This sacred alcove of my heart bears you" was the line I was most satisfied with. After learning of his passing, I remembered this song. It was just gonna sit on my hard drive but I feel like I should just release it. D'Angelo made some of the best love songs ever and this was my attempt at being just as poetic as he is. Rest Easy D'Angelo.
