Butterfly Project also known as Mariposaplan (Leo Halfen)  is a musician/ sound-artist based in Munich, Germany. 
Ranging from Reggae to Ambient Pop,  the focus of his music is to evoke emotion and speak to the heart of each listener. 
Themes of his music often revolve around healing, development and becoming who you are.
In his work, electronic and acoustic elements as well as spherical, soft vocals find a delicate balance creating an organic and warm sound.

Music has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. Before I could even play, I was drawn to instruments, tinkering with them just to see what they could do. After years of begging, I finally got my first electric guitar at 15, and from that moment on, I was hooked. I joined a band, but after one show, the leader kicked me out when a local DJ showed more interest in me than the rest of the group. They never played again.

Determined to stay connected to music, I left high school early, earned my GED in 11th grade, and took a job as an orchestral repairman at Brook Mays Music in Dallas. At 18, I was surrounded by instruments daily, learning the craft of repair and deepening my understanding of sound. I later studied music theory at Collin College in Plano, Texas, refining my skills even further.

Life got busy, and for a while, I put my craft down to focus on family. But as my kids grew and needed less supervision, I found my way back to music. These days, you can find me playing again, rediscovering my passion. When I’m not making music, I’m often running a buddy’s food truck at festivals around Colorado and Utah, soaking in the creative energy of live performances.

I’m currently living in Evergreen, Colorado, where I continue to reconnect with the music that has always been a part of me.
