Moonjumper replaces Gaster. After escaping the Horizon, they're just barely holding on to their existence. Glitchy as anything, their form phasing in and out of view, distorted speech... the works. MJ desires to finally get a proper foothold in this world once more, but needs Bow Kid’s help... help that they'll never get on the Pacifist and Neutral routes, as it requires Bow to do things that she'd normally never do. But as much of a fool's errand as it is, Moonjumper fights Bow on those two routes anyway when she encounters them at the broken giant hourglass. You aren't really able to lose to them, as they heal you right when you would be about to die, but hey! No pain, no [[game]], am I right? ...If nothing else, it gives time for em to get some cryptically cynical thoughts off their chest. Having your attempts at power thwarted so royally and losing control over the very concept of your existence... kinda does that to a person.
After the fight however, Moonjumper says a few more things that (though *very* dickish) SEEM to indicate the tiniest amount of hope, then just fades away without a trace, their grasp on existence being weakened just enough for it to slip completely... for a while at any rate. =)

So! As I alluded to in the "How Rude!" update's description, the process of updating (and adding more to) the Moonjumper tracks has officially begun. Still have to decide what I wanna do with the others, but I figured I'd start with the obvious two tracks that should get the treatment first: "YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO" and "BE IN THE GAME" respectively!! And as much as I liked Kristian's original version of "BE IN THE GAME" especially, they just. No longer fit the AU as it currently stands. Complete overhauls from the bottom up have been in order for well over a year now.
Along with the new Moonside lead being transcribed from it (dunno why *I* never thought to just use "Oh It's You" itself,) the stylization of YNST's update is actually based on an unreleased cover of the V1 made by Saur (@saurdino420.) She's an awesome musician, and y'all should definitely check out her work.

Moonjumper replaces Gaster.
In the Pacifist and Neutral routes, you have to take something significant of MJ's that still lingers in the mortal realm (a monocle perhaps?) to a hidden steelworks area in Mu's castle, where (among other things) they made some of the gold Mu statues that you see in AHIT canon. There, MJ double-crosses you by possessing/controlling one of the statues and vowing that you won't leave the room... alive. No matter the tiny amount of regret they may have, they're still a rat bastard in the ways that count.

In the TimeWarp route, after Hat Kid's (well) TimeWarp attack creates a schism in the space-time continuum, Moonjumper is FINALLY able to properly break through back into reality... by wrapping their strings around Mustache Girl's soul and taking control, becoming Moonstache EX in the process. I mean, come on! You REALLY thought them selling you the ThornCrown was *just* to help Bow to escape their binds? Ain't ya ever heard of a good ol fashioned double-cross!?

A *big* thanks goes to Shade (@hi-im-shade) for providing the drumless render of Killing Two Birds that I sampled and edited here. Was defo a big ask of me, considering it was easily over two years since I'd originally commissioned it, and his help was greatly appreciated! Really wanted to more "authentically" splice the PoN replacement if I were to ever redo this track, and now I'm proud to say that I've accomplished that here. In addition to implementing that, I've done the same lead and hits motif updates as YNST's redo... AND put in the new "Freedom" motif to boot, among other things. This is easily *the* most radically different a version of BE IN THE GAME has been from past ones, but defo the most satisfying upgrade so far.
I'd be remiss if I didn't also mention a couple of the BIG SHOTs that inspired the direction I went with here, BITE OF '87? by itsaleccio (https://soundcloud.com/aleccio6/bite-of-87-v2) and SOME HELP by R.V Pine (https://soundcloud.com/feelings-or-well-evelyn/some-help-rv-pine.) Vanessa takes the role of Glyde. In the Entropy and TimeWarp routes, she decides to go on a walk to clear her mind... only to see the trail of destruction you've left in your wake, and the lives you've already ruined (Snatcher especially on the TimeWarp route.) Just your luck that you ran into her then, huh! =)
Determined to put a stop to you, or stall so people can get away from you if nothing else, Vanessa finally feels compelled to engage in a fight. It will be a gruelling endurance battle, with her hurling some of the strongest attacks you would face on either of the two routes this battle happens on.

Ok but in all seriousness though! I've had at least the TimeWarp route's version of this idea down for quite some time, but I recently realized that I should probably expand it some more (even if only a little.) So although the OST placement of this reflects its chronology in the Entropy route, this Vanessa battle now happens in both Entropy and TimeWarp routes! You can read the main AU write-up for more details on the former, and the dedicated TimeWarp document for the latter.
As for the song itself: HOLY SHIT IT TURNED OUT RLY NICELY ON BOTH FRONTS!! A lot of you long-time fans of mine may have noticed that I actually lifted the title wholesale from one of my old Nomadic Prince AU tracks. And yeah fun fact, my original plan was to overhaul that old track. But then I realized "Wait... this track sucks ass. Especially for this new context the Time's End AU would be providing." So I pondered even further, until it struck me: **I HAVE MONEY GODDAMN IT!!!**
I've always wanted to commission Jayze, and since I was in a financially lucky spot in December '24, I finally seized upon that opportunity. Suggested his older IN A PICKLE track (https://soundcloud.com/jjaym15/in-a-pickle) as a basis to draw from, and he really delivered - and then some! He's a fantastic musician that was a pleasure to do business with. And Raven's art... DAMN IT TURNED OUT SO WELL! Glad I got to work with her on this as well.

The Conductor fills Mettaton's shoes in this world. He may be the sole greatest influencer in the bird entertainment now (thanks to him ousting Grooves during the initial "Time's End" fiasco) but... he's *incredibly* bored and agitated. There are no obstacles in his path to success, and only now does he realize how much he *despises it* -- though he'll be damned if he EVER admits to missing DJ Peck Neck (for now at least.) His kinder side -- although still faintly there -- has become a LOT harder for his crew to see over time, especially Thomas the Inventor, who receives the brunt of Conductor's unchecked cockiness and fury nowadays. Bow Kid's arrival in the Mafia Flows makes Conductor immediately pounce on the opportunity for something CLOSE to a rival in his life again.

I have more Brothership stuff in the works, and even one that's very close to being done, but I figured I'd settle the score with something from A Hat In Time that has plaguing me on-and-off for quite some time.
To say I dislike the original Time Trials track would be a *gross* understatement. I understand it was from an earlier point in AHIT's development, but even in comparison to the rest of Eric Gleiser's tracks for the game, Time Trials sticks out like a sore thumb. It feels very much like "we have Plants Vs Zombies at home," not helped by a huge chunk of the bassline basically being a weirder sounding version of Brainiac Maniac's.
I already slightly rearranged a small chunk of Time Trials for my cover of Whisperjas' Zombotany (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLS4zXgRnralvKhnT1AA5ms08M2PoNLobt,) but I decided it was finally time to do a FULL arrangement. If this is gonna be "we have PvZ at home," then it might as well be the best executed version of that style that it can be, damn it! To that end, I actually transcribed a tiny bit of Brainiac Maniac from memory and used some PvZ1 instruments, as well as PvZ2. I also drew a LOT from my Zombotany cover here as well in terms of structural ideas, and added a bit from Clocktowers Beneath The Sea at the end too! Not much else to say rly, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. Hope y'all enjoy! :3
