Film yang dirilis tahun 2005 ini menceritakan mengenai tiga orang anak SMA yang sudah bersahabat sejak lama, yaitu Agni, Alde, dan Arian. Tiga sahabat tersebut diperankan oleh Vino G Bastian, Ramon Y Tungka, dan Marcel Chandrawinata. Saat duduk di bangku kelas 3 dan menanti kelulusan, membuat film dokumenter mengenai semua kegiatan yang terjadi di sekolahnya. Tujuh belas tahun berlalu, para pemain Catatan Akhir Sekolah mengalami transformasi penampilan, lho!
Catatan Akhir Sekolah atau biasa disingkat CAS adalah sebuah film yang disutradari Hanung Bramantyo dan diproduseri Erwin Arnada yang kemudia diproduksi Roxinema. Film ini berkisah tentang tiga anak SMA bernama Agni (Ramon Y Tungka), Arian (Vino G Bastian), dan Alde (Marcel Chandrawinata) yang ingin membuat film documenter sebagai bentuk pembuktian eksistensi mereka disekolah.
Adalah tiga lelaki SMA atau kelompok A3 yang "cupu" (culun punya = ini istilah masa kini untuk para pecundang). Mereka terdiri dari Agni (Ramon J. Tungka), kepala geng berkacamata, keras kepala, dan penuh teori; Alde (Marcel Chandrawinata, pemain baru dengan penampilan bersinar), sosok yang paling ganteng tapi pemalu dan anggota band di sekolahnya; dan Arian (Vino Bastian), yang meledak-ledak (setiap ledakan ditunjukkan dengan akting yang sama: sepasang tangan yang sibuk dengan suara yang nyaring), setia kawan, dan menggampangkan persoalan. Untuk menggebrak "sejarah" dan menghancurkan citra "cupu", ketiga pecundang ini bersepakat membuat sebuah film dokumenter tentang kehidupan sekolah mereka: bagian gelap dan bagian penuh cahaya. Rekaman tentang mereka yang hidup dari menyontek dan mereka yang "tidak pernah menyontek seumur hidup". Atau rekaman anak masjid yang memulai kalimatnya dengan kutipan ayat Quran hingga membuat ketiga anak ini buru-buru salat karena ingin menjauhkan diri dari api neraka. Rekaman tentang mereka yang kabur dari kelas dan klepas-klepus merokok di belakang sekolah; mereka yang OD (overdosis) narkoba; tentang seorang kekasih sialan yang kasar bernama Ray (Christian Sugiono) yang menampar pacarnya yang jelita dan ringkih, Alina (Joanna Alexandra). Tetapi dokumenter ini juga merekam mereka yang memberikan cahaya pada pendidikan, seperti guru-guru yang mengajar karena memang percaya bahwa setitik kontribusi dalam kelas adalah fondasi pada karakter anak-anak. Ide cerita yang lahir dari Salman Aristo yang, menurut pengakuannya, "diawali oleh rasa sebal yang luar biasa saat menonton tayangan remaja di televisi" adalah sebuah upaya dokumentasi yang menjungkirbalikkan semua tayangan sinetron remaja di televisi.
