Relief 61 Artists Unite to Break the Silence: Charity VA Supporting Palestine Children Relief In a world where every word holds consequences and every silence bears weight, the latter cannot be a privilege. As the world witnesses the horrors of war and its devastating impact on innocent lives, it's imperative to raise our voices against injustice wherever it occurs. It is our duty, especially being artists, to raise consciousness and awareness, challenge norms and narratives. We cannot allow ourselves to overlook the ongoing crisis in Palestine. This is not merely a matter of political stance; it's a test of our humanity. If we fail to speak out against the slaughter of innocent people and the genocide unfolding in Palestine, we fail on fundamental levels of compassion and justice. It's not about political affiliations; it's about standing on the righteous side and feeling the pulse of what's truly just. With the power of technology, we are constantly connected to the realities of conflict, yet to stay silence in the face of such atrocities is deadly. For that reason we brought 61 artists together to break this silence and stand in solidarity with Palestine, especially the innocent children. In the haunting echoes of silence, where cries for help are drowned by the thunder of war, our music becomes a beacon of hope, piercing through the darkness to remind the world of its humanity. Each beat, each note is a testament to resilience, a defiance against the oppressors, a symphony of solidarity resonating across borders. In the tapestry of chaos, our voices rise like a crescendo, demanding justice, demanding freedom and peace, demanding that the world listen and act. Techno, Noise, EBM, punk, and experimental music—genres rooted in the ethos of creating alternate societies and challenging terrestrial limitations—have always championed freedom of expression. Yet, the contemporary landscape feels tainted by commodification, censorship, and the silencing of marginalized voices. This betrayal of the essence cannot be tolerated. Our music is a rebellion, a revolution of sound, breaking chains of apathy and indifference, igniting flames of empathy and action.We are not just musicians; we are storytellers of the silenced, architects of dreams, weaving melodies of resistance and resilience. Solidarity must be a foundational principle within our (sub-)culture. True freedom can only be achieved when all are liberated. Longtime Anime fans John and CC discuss all the ups and downs of the shows they watched start to finish in each freshly wrapped up season.

Alex Thode (he/him/they) would first and foremost like you to know that not only is the “e” at the end of his last name not silent, but that he is also a composer and arranger most known for his work in the pageantry arts. He resides in Waukesha, Wisconsin with his cat, Buzz. An alumnus of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Alex composes and arranges for marching bands across the continental United States. Always aiming to infuse contemporary music with the classics and the mainstream with the obscure, his marching band arrangements are known to stand out for their eclectic musical diversity and creative sonic environments.

Alex's clientele have been Bands of America (BOA) Regional Finalists and Class Champions, BOA Super Regional Class Champions, UIL Area Champions and State Finalists, WGI Winds Class Champions, and also make regular appearances at BOA Grand Nationals. He has also had the privilege of having his arrangements performed in the 2016 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the 2020 Tournament of Roses Bandfest.

Along with his compositions and arrangements for the pageantry arts, Alex also has been commissioned to write middle school and high school concert band works, and enjoys composing chamber percussion music. Alex recently completed his new piece for 8-piece percussion ensemble, “the carving of canyons,” which premiered in January 2022.

In his free time, Alex enjoys watching movies and believing he’s a professional film critic, hiking and pretending that he’s athletic, traveling and acting like he’s Marco Polo, playing piano, guitar and a variety of kalimbas, and being with good company.
