This is a composition that I've created for the Image Challenge (20250103) of the FB Composer Challenge Group. It is also my first attempt to compose a classical piece, more specifically a piano concerto.

I've chosen a classical approach because that was how the image resonated to me. A monotone portrait of a young woman that looks like it was torn from a large fresco painting. Her expression summoned melancholy and regrets. The cracks and ripped edges of the image suggested a broken history of her past and yet her elegance hasn't been completely annihilated in the present.

I composed and arranged this piece 10 years ago. I wrote it for my baby nephew Idris... Well, baby he was, at the time. He's 10 now and I figured that since I really wanted this piece of music to last forever, I should upgrade its sound.

The original 2014 version was created with the "Music Studio" app on the iPad and I have just merely begun my interest in composing music. Despite the fact that I do not have any means of training in music theory nor handling any instruments. I was pretty much amazed on how I could take 4 measly little notes and expanded it into a full marching orchestra. Henceforth, my musical journey commenced...

Since then, I've gotten myself some decent VSTs and a reliable DAW. So, upon its 10-year anniversary, here's my latest remastered version of "The Idris March".  (*** Note: You can also scroll down to my library list and listen to the original 2014 version and hear the difference.)

My latest entry to the FB Composer Movie Character Challenge #24 - A Theme based on the characters in Mission Impossible franchise.

I've composed a theme music for the entire Impossible Mission Force (IMF), the organization that Ethan Hunt is working under. The first instrument that came to my mind was the electric guitar. I wanted to establish a fast-paced, exciting and on-the-edge-of-your-seat kind of rhythm that will resembles the over-the-top actions of the franchise. I've also tried to use electric guitar more often these days because of the edginess of its sound. Previously for Mad Max and now for the IMF.

CHARACTER LORE:
This song is about an NPC in my tabletop game, Whu Whu Wizards, which centers on a secret order of wizards who reside in a floating black castle drifting through space. The character in question is Alo “The Horned King,” father of player character Sora Evergreen, from my 2015 fantasy setting The World of S@LT. Alo belongs to the BlackRock Society and is often called “The Wendigo” or “The Hex Master” by his fellow BlackRock wizards. Renowned for his power and adventures across the continent of Quel’Thulaz, he won BlackRock’s War Mage trial four years in a row. Like all BlackRock wizards, he was destined either to become a savior or to unleash terrible doom. During his travels with allies known as The Mind of Meridian and Marcus Mutarecaelum, he met and fell in love with a wandering barbarian woman named Fern. Alo and his crew spent many years attempting to thwart the League of Mog. Ultimately, Alo sacrificed himself to protect the children he had with Fern (Sora & Allen) from her father, Khorvon Khass. Now, The Mind of Meridian contains his “demon” spirit to keep him from succumbing to madness and causing widespread destruction. Alo watches from the shadows as his children grow up without him The Horned King’s golden glory lost, at least for now.
