Every summer it’s the same tired speech.
“Things will change,” like promises tangled in bedsheets.
But this time? Hell—this time, I’m writing it in fire.

Been hauling this heart through a thousand springs,
stuck on repeat, same damn strings—
caught between yesterday’s haze
and reflections painted gray.

But today I’m cutting loose.
No more wilting by the window,
no more living like my shadow’s ghost.

This summer—I ignite.
Not for anyone’s eyes, I burn for my own light.
Gonna dance ’til I ache,
wear the sun like my fate,
kiss mirrors proudly, no apologies made.

I embody the June show.

“Buy Me a Drink” is a steady and propulsive piece of music that conjures the same driving rhythms that were the trademark sound of early Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Two. Gammage has taken that rhythmic idea and made it his own. With a strong and extremely hooky tremolo electric guitar licks the song has a distinct and classic retro vibe that lies somewhere between the 1950s and 60s. Lyrically it explores the dark side of the honky tonk life, with the song’s protagonist caught in a tough spot between helping his friend yet being repelled by her work environment. Imagine playing this song on a bar’s jukebox at 1am and you’ll understand it’s vibe.

This journey down the Road of Life has many highs, lows, corners, and barricades. Music celebrates the highs, and comforts the lows. The corners and barricades are made easier, knowing someone has been there before; you're not the only one who feels this way. 

A song can emit unknown feelings, but is also more than a feeling; it is the only hope some can find, at times. 

Music is my way of relating to the world: "The piper will play cause he don't know what to say" It is also my way of giving back to all those who have inspired me over the years. 

I gave this up publicly for many years, but I never stopped needing to create and channel my energy through my music. Now, I just want others to relate to the emotions of life that are wrapped up in these little songs.

I tend to "release" music before it is ready. I usually spend a lot of time making these songs and can't resist the urge to share them.
