My Last Night Here

Malaysians were denied two years of a proper Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Eid ul-Fitri) thanks to the Movement Control Order (MCO) following the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, finally, we were allowed to return to our hometowns and spend Raya with our families.

ABOUT | "Colorado Bound" tells the story of Fred's grandfather, Al Kosak, driving from Duluth, MN to the Pacific Ocean in the 50s. He took the family Ford wagon and kept his speed at 35 mph as he thought it would give him the best gas mileage. We don’t know how long it took, but he eventually made it to the coast. The wallpaper pattern used on the artwork comes from the Diamond Belle Saloon, the Strater Hotel’s iconic piano bar in downtown Durango, CO—a piece of local history.

SHORT BIO | Born in a distillery in Durango, CO, 2021 IBMA Momentum Band of the Year and two-time Telluride Bluegrass band contest finalists Stillhouse Junkies play a delirious, head-spinning mixture of original roots, blues, funk, swing, and bluegrass music. ABOUT | What's the first thing you think of when you hear the word, "circus" (besides the candy apples and the freaks)? Variety! The circus—it has everything: wholesome family fun, thrills, animals, the curiously (at times) delicious smells, and oddities you don't see every day. Relating it to soundscapes, mix all of that up and you've got Circus No. 9. Oh, back to the freaks...the boys in this circus are freakishly talented, evidenced here on their Pinecastle debut single, "Steampipe Coffee."

SHORT BIO | Circus No. 9 is East Tennessee’s own progressive bluegrass outfit, blurring the lines between bluegrass, jazz, and rock.  Described as “John Hartford meets John Coltrane,” the group has appeared alongside artists including David Grisman, Bryan Sutton, Larry Keel, among others. Comprised of musicians Thomas Cassell, Vince Ilagan, and Ben Garnett, Circus No. 9 is one of the most exciting new bands on the acoustic music scene today.

I wrote this song during the pandemic while reminiscing on all the touring I would no longer be doing for the foreseeable future but my mind only took me back to having to say goodbye and miss my family.  I played every instrument on this track and recorded it entirely myself, my wife lending her vocals.

All That's Been Lost is the debut album from Glasgow based singer-songwriter Steve Grozier. The album builds on Grozier's mix of indie rock, americana and alt-country, along with his heartfelt, emo-tive vocals and ability to write literate and introspective lyrics. 
 
The themes of loss, darkness, and emotional pain on All That’s Been Lost find parallels in the work of Phosphorescent or Pinegrove. 
 
The two singles taken from the album showcase Grozier’s range as a songwriter. On Memories, we find Grozier coming to terms with ageing and the pain and beauty in doing that with someone you love. It features some intricate dobro work by Ethan Golub (The Mountain Goats, Watchhouse). On Power In The Light, Grozier is at his most hopeful. He sings “I’m strong in the fight. There’s grief and anger, but there’s power in the light.” The light is whatever you need it to be, wherever you find the strength to go on, to keep trying. .

The Indie Song Guy, aka, Richard Grist, is a Songwriter/Guitarist from Christchurch New Zealand. He was the singer/songwriter in New Zealand Band, Blackholestars and has appeared as C90 on Natures Worst Volume 1 with song,  Home Brand. Label: Nature's Worst Records ‎– 001  Lo-Fi, Noise, Experimental, Indie Rock, Punk.  He has since played Guitar in  Plasticine Heroes and is currently recording and playing his own original music and performing as a solo musician.
